View Full Version : Perlbill Questions

I have been looking carefully over the Perlbill site, and I think I am about to purchase. I do have a few more questions that other users of Perlbill might be able to answer.

1. I was looking at the pro-rated billing aspect of it. Is there a way to set a minumum number of days required to carry over to the next month. For example, If somebody orders hosting on the 25th of the month, instead of just pro-rating for 5 days (in a 30 day month), I'd like to pro-rate for that five days, as well as the following month...is there a way to do that?

2. Is there a way to offer discounts? For example, we offer discounts to certain organizations...is there a way to be sure they get the discount without all of those options showing up on the order form. As an example, lets say I gave everybody at WHT a 50% discount...how would I implement that on the sign-up form without advertising a 'WHT Hosting Plan 1'...
(BTW, I got around this with PHP manager buy creating seperate sign-up forms for each group I offer discounts to...then send them to that special sign-up form....is this something I could do with Perlbill)

Other than those 2 questions, I think everything else has been covered on their site....Any users of Perlbill have any thoughts?

One more thing (sorry)...how is the integration with Perlbill to 2checkout. We are currently using 2checkouts recurring billing for our clients...is there a way to initiate this on sign-up, then we credit the account each month as the bill is payed. I know Perlbill provides a link to 2checkout, but can this go to the recurring billing link instead of one-time payment. I'd like to find these out before I make the purchase :)

Hello

We are currently using PerlBill so to answer your questions:

1) There is a way but it may not be exactly what you wanted. However John (owner of PerlBill) is a nice guy and I am sure we could do a quick fix for you and change that.

As for the rest of your questions allow me to offer some advice. Don't use the PerlBill signup form. It just doesn't offer what we as a hosting company need. I suggest having your own order/signup form and then adding them manually to PerlBill. Just my two cents.

Chris,
Thanks for the reply...after thinking about it, you are probably right on the money. We currently use PHPManager...perhaps I will use that order form, and to set the account...then use Perlbill to manage billing aspect of it....After consulting a few close clients, most are happy with billing on the anniversary of their account start, so that kind of gets me out of #1 above :) Thanks again...how well do you and your clients like the system (if you don't mind me asking).

Both myself and our clients love it. It helps me manage our clients more effectively and it allows our clients to monitor their billing, their past invoices and sends them invoices via email every month. Also allows you to create invoices for such things like domain registration. It's a very nice program and I really suggest getting it.

Chris,
Thanks again for the reply...it looks like it is a very workable option for us (still a lot of logging in and posting payments :)), but I think it will do just fine...thanks for the info...
