(switched a few weeks ago) templates911 09-02-2002, 09:00 AM I hate being on a 56K connection. I dont know about anyone else but DSL or cable internet service just isnt avalible in our area yet. JTY 09-02-2002, 09:18 AM I've got DSL... but, I plan on switching back. It's hardly reliable, and at 17, it's pretty expensive. floppy 09-02-2002, 10:03 AM I am having 56K connection. Site with heavy graphics and Flash takes hell lot of time to download. templates911 09-02-2002, 10:26 AM Originally posted by floppy I am having 56K connection. Hopefully in a few weeks I'll be getting 512/128 ADSL which should be nice. There is no cable access here - so ADSL is the only available broadband option. templates911 09-02-2002, 10:58 AM we dont even have that here XTStrike 09-02-2002, 11:06 AM *shivver* all you unfortunate people, ive not been on a connection slower than 512k in at least 18 months I truly feel for you all !! templates911 09-02-2002, 11:13 AM I could get a T1 or T3 but Their too much and dont need it either mind21_98 09-02-2002, 12:24 PM 56k, connected at 45.2kbps. No cable in my area yet. There's DSL but I'm too far from the CO it seems. I could always go Starband though. :( binasys 09-02-2002, 12:33 PM Sadly 56k here. We're still waiting for BT to get their act together and enable our local exchange for DSL. Of course, they'll do leased lines... if you sell a kidney. :bawling: viGeek 09-02-2002, 04:56 PM I have cable right now, im not all that impressed, I have comcast, and im only receiving roughly 20% of my quoted cap. I also have 56K and a 20 hours of dialup, just incase cable is down. mcfcforever 09-02-2002, 05:26 PM I HAve ADSL 512k/256 and wow, its fast...and good thign is, im connected 24/7 :-P i Fell for you all on old fashioned 56k. I have my adsl with AOL, it cost me £35 a month (im 15 yo) i can get it for as low as £23.44 a month, but aol has wickied support. Matt Samuel 09-02-2002, 05:33 PM Dual line DSL but I'm not hugely impressed with it. But it's not neccesarily DSL's fault. First, the two lines 1500kbs down 128k up times two Choke due to the low upload. Second, there just isn't content, nor entertainment that uses the potential of the line. Yes, it can download at 137, 139kbs a second, but it's substandard to try to do anything with it really due to it's upload limitation. If it was 512k up that would be awesome. templates911 09-02-2002, 07:22 PM I would like to get cable because it sounds more reliable. markcw 09-02-2002, 08:36 PM 56K modem only. Can't get anything else in my area Mester 09-02-2002, 08:45 PM I have 56K connect at 40K ADSL (1.5M/128k) should be here soon and will cost $40 CAD/month including modem rental. Ahmad 09-02-2002, 08:53 PM I have ADSL: 192 kbps/128 kbps It costs me ~ 65$/month, but that's only because I'm paying annualy. It would be ~ 115$ if payed monthly. 512 kbps down cost: ~ 256$ / month  Anyway, 128 kbps is much better than a dial-up ;) peteny 09-03-2002, 06:41 AM Uncapped 10Mbit cable :spiny: mcfcforever 09-03-2002, 01:54 PM theres always one isnt there....... Darth 09-03-2002, 02:02 PM Originally posted by binasys Sadly 56k here. Upload speed is not advertised(?) but it's about just goes less than half the speed of download speed. templates911 09-03-2002, 06:37 PM does anyone have Directway From Direct TV? iamdave 09-03-2002, 08:32 PM Originally posted by Samuel Dual line DSL but I'm not hugely impressed with it. I get 160 Kb/s download with just one line. But still upload stinks. templates911 09-04-2002, 12:06 PM how fast are uploads? TheGAME1264 09-04-2002, 03:30 PM 960 Kbps download/120 Kbps upload officially here...although for some reason I've noticed my uploads are consistently closer to 136 and sometimes my downloads have reached 1.2 Mbps during off peak times and depending what I'm doing. I could never...e-e-eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeever...go back to dialup...again. aquos 09-04-2002, 04:02 PM DSL with Qwest 625/225 (I think) Always a problem when it's thunderstorm. jhcashman 09-04-2002, 04:04 PM once you have used high speed you just can't go back!!!!! :stickout DJiMPaCT 09-04-2002, 06:17 PM I couldn't imagine 56k'ing.. Cable here... I am sure in a couple of years I will be saying the same thing about cable. web docta 09-04-2002, 09:11 PM I've had cable up for over 2 years and I don't take it for granted. I remember how bad my dial-up was. Besides, I wouldn't be able to use my LAN with dial-up! |
