I hate being on a 56K connection. I dont know about anyone else but DSL or cable internet service just isnt avalible in our area yet.

I've got DSL... but, I plan on switching back. It's hardly reliable, and at 17, it's pretty expensive.

I am having 56K connection. Site with heavy graphics and Flash takes hell lot of time to download.

yea, people with cable and dsl dont know how good they have it :p

I've got 56k dialup (I connect at either 48,000 or 52,000). Hopefully in a few weeks I'll be getting 512/128 ADSL which should be nice.

There is no cable access here - so ADSL is the only available broadband option.

56k, connected at 45.2kbps. No cable in my area yet. There's DSL but I'm too far from the CO it seems. I could always go Starband though. :(

Sadly 56k here. We're still waiting for BT to get their act together and enable our local exchange for DSL. Of course, they'll do leased lines... if you sell a kidney. :bawling:

I have cable right now, im not all that impressed, I have comcast, and im only receiving roughly 20% of my quoted cap. I also have 56K and a 20 hours of dialup, just incase cable is down.

I HAve ADSL 512k/256 and wow, its fast...and good thign is, im connected 24/7 :-P i Fell for you all on old fashioned 56k. I have my adsl with AOL, it cost me £35 a month (im 15 yo) i can get it for as low as £23.44 a month, but aol has wickied support.

But it's not neccesarily DSL's fault.

First, the two lines
1500kbs down 128k up times two
Choke due to the low upload.

Second, there just isn't content, nor entertainment that uses the potential of the line.

Yes, it can download at 137, 139kbs a second, but it's substandard to try to do anything with it really due to it's upload limitation.

If it was 512k up that would be awesome.

I would like to get cable because it sounds more reliable.

ADSL (1.5M/128k) should be here soon and will cost $40 CAD/month including modem rental.

I have ADSL: 192 kbps/128 kbps

It costs me ~ 65$/month, but that's only because I'm paying annualy. It would be ~ 115$ if payed monthly.

512 kbps down cost: ~ 256$ / month :eek:

Anyway, 128 kbps is much better than a dial-up ;)

Uncapped 10Mbit cable :spiny:

Same here :bawling:

1 Mbit(advertised) line here and goes around 600K to 1Mbit's which is the advertised speed.
Upload speed is not advertised(?) but it's about just goes less than half the speed of download speed.

If it was 512k up that would be awesome. I get 160 Kb/s download with just one line. But still upload stinks.

how fast are uploads?

960 Kbps download/120 Kbps upload officially here...although for some reason I've noticed my uploads are consistently closer to 136 and sometimes my downloads have reached 1.2 Mbps during off peak times and depending what I'm doing.

I could never...e-e-eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeever...go back to dialup...again.

Cable here... I am sure in a couple of years I will be saying the same thing about cable.

I've had cable up for over 2 years and I don't take it for granted. I remember how bad my dial-up was. Besides, I wouldn't be able to use my LAN with dial-up!
