I'm currently with Dreamhost, but want to start developing ASP.NET applications as well, and I'm having trouble finding a new host which offers what I need. I need a host that offers:

PHP and ASP.NET
MySQL
10Gb transfer
3Gb disk space
At least 30 domains


With dreamhost, I end up paying about $10 month, and I don't really want to spend much more. Are there any hosts which provide everything above for a reasonable price? I don't need crap like site builder or stats.

When you are looking for Windows hosting services, you will need to know that the prices are generally higher than the Linux Hosting. This is because there are lot of licenses associated with it. Hence, if you need _Quality_ hosting services, I would advice you to raise your budget. If however, you are able to find a hosting service with your requirements, double check the credibility of the host. You can use the 'Search' feature on the top right corner of this page to find reviews of your prospective hosts.

I agree, I don't think you are going to find a quality windows host that can offer you 3gb of space and 30 domains for $10.

I only actually need about 8 domains, the rest are subdomains. I'm willing to pay a bit more but I'd like to keep it around $15/month.

I realise Windows hosting is more expensive. The closest I've found so far is FastHost's Windows Developer package (http://www.fasthosts.co.uk/hosting/windows-developer/full-details/), but you have to pay extra for a MySQL server. How they can offer hosting without any kind of database is a bit of a con.

I couldn't find any mention whether they allow hosting 8 domains in the package you mentioned. Regarding extra charge of MySQL databases, every company has different plan structure and different target customers - hence it is not possible to comment on it.

There should be few hosts who will meet your requirements. You can probably get in touch with your prospective hosts mentioning your requirement and I am sure they'll be able to customize a plan for you.

Actually that's not something I've looked at. Reseller plans do seem to be a fair bit more expensive though.

I've got a reseller plan with Eirca.net. It has asp.net, php, ms sql (2000 & 2005), mysql, odbc & access, 5 gb space, 50 gb bw, all the domains you want to throw on your account, plus a bunch of other stuff. The bottom end reseller plan is $24.95 but when I signed up I had a coupon so it costs me $19.95 a month. It's hsphere, and it comes with 20 licenses, and you can setup windows or linux accounts. I'm actually planning on using it to setup a reseller business, but I've been so busy with development projects I haven't had time for it. As a developer, it's been great for me. I have about 8 domains of my own on the master account, plus about a dozen client accounts with their domains.

You can have as many database as you want, it's limited by your disk space.

I'm still developing with .net 2.0 so I haven't checked lately to see if they've added 3.5 yet.

You can check the offers forum and see if they have any coupons available now.

I believe most of the Windows hosting companies will be providing MS SQL databases. If you do not require it, you can talk with the host and get a customized plan within your budget to meet your requirement.

Like others have said, you should plan on spending a bit more for a quality Windows host, as opposed to Linux. If you catch a time when Eirca has a discount coupon posted (check the offers forum), you could end up getting their HS1 for $19.95 a month (like I did), just 5 bucks more than your stated budget. 20 bucks a month for what they are offering is an incredible deal. Of course, you could find similar offers with other hosts as well if you search around.

I was paying $25 a month with my last host, and it was just a shared account that allowed me 5 domains, and far far less than I have now with my reseller account.

your likely wrong on that! Reselller Hosting is fairly good priced now, even for UK Hosting. I assume your looking for UK Hosting being in England yourself?
