I'm just curious, for those of you who started in the past two years, how long did it take you to get to 100 customers?

Thats pretty darn good for a one-man-band webhosting reseller! I'm all ears for someones reply to this one!! Prolime Servers 08-13-2008, 05:06 PM I'm just curious, for those of you who started in the past two years, how long did it take you to get to 100 customers? we completed 100 customers in approx 3 month now we have 109 customers :agree: trafficlight 08-15-2008, 12:55 AM we completed 100 customers in approx 3 month now we have 109 customers :agree: That's fantastic. If we're talking 100 dedicated server/colo customers in 3 months, then I have to say, you're doing GREAT. Your revenue will be much higher for servers as opposed to shared hosting. 100 shared/reseller hosting customers is pretty good too but I wouldn't be jumping up and down about it. You're still very far from the numbers that godaddy or hostgator are pulling today. glace 08-15-2008, 03:42 AM I'm just curious, for those of you who started in the past two years, how long did it take you to get to 100 customers? I got 100 customers in my first month back in 2004. That was simply because my plans were underpriced. If your plans are too cheap you will get customers quickly but it's really a waste of energy. So what you should really be looking at is the amount of ACTUAL PROFIT you get within a certain amount of time. I am currently getting about 40 customers per month (from word of mouth...no advertising) and I have about 1500 customers. There were times when I had 4000 customers but that was a nightmare ! I was working all around the clock and made almost no money. I got overwhelmed and couldn't even send invoices. It was a big disaster. I ended up hosting 1000 customers for free just because I didn't have time to bill them or cancel their accounts... So forget about all those numbers... This not what it is all about ! Something I learned the hard way. rationale 08-16-2008, 06:31 PM It really depends on how you choose to market your hosting services (for example online vs. offline).. Per my experience, you get faster results in online marketing.. However, brand awareness is built through offline marketing (magazines, press releases, etc.) HostTitan 08-16-2008, 06:59 PM It took about 3 months. Most of our customers come through word-of-mouth, but social networking has been a new (and fun) way to get buzz going. |
