View Full Version : Mosso Alternative/Reseller without overselling?
techietype 08-10-2008, 07:32 PM Hello,
We are looking for a reseller who...
Would allow us to sell Linux hosting (preferably Windows too, but definitely Linux)
Would allow us to resell domains
Could integrate with WHMCS or a similar, automated-signup system
Has a reliable network
Doesn't oversell
Provides support for our clients (that would be a plus, but not expecting it)We considered Mosso -- here are the pros and cons:
Things we don't like about Mosso
Doesn't allow for integration with WHCMS or any automated system
Doesn't provide Fantastico, or any site builder system for out clients
Their custom control panel for clients is nice, but slightly ill-featuredThings we like about Mosso
Reliable network (powered by RackSpace!!!)
They can bill your clients credit cards and wire the money to your bank account
They can (for an additional charge) provide 24x7 American support for your clientsWe're NOT concerned with price or the amount of space, so long as there is room to grow.
techietype 08-10-2008, 08:06 PM Nevermind the no overselling... Just meant that they should be able to provide the resources they say they will.
IH-Rameen 08-10-2008, 08:15 PM Webspace, bandwidth, budget?
If you're looking to have the same specs as mosso, then you might want to look into a VPS (managed) instead..
techietype 08-10-2008, 08:38 PM We're looking for someone who provides similar reseller tools as Mosso, and who provides reliable service. Again, it doesn't matter how much bandwidth or space is included in the plan, as long as there is room for us to upgrade (assuming everything goes well...).
What about WestNIC.net? They have many of the features we are looking for, but are they reliable?
Softsys Hosting 08-10-2008, 11:01 PM Did you checked Innohosting? I believe, they do provide whmcs integration and end user support with their reseller plans. Rameen has been a very active member of WHT and they have a very good reputation here. Certainly worth considering!
Good luck!
- Rick
Cats-Computing 08-11-2008, 12:23 AM Just wondering, do you want a control panel that can be integrated with WHMCS (such as cPanel/WHM or Plesk) and/or did you want your host to provide WHMCS?
dhcart 08-11-2008, 10:25 AM I recommend Hostdime.
techietype 08-11-2008, 11:03 AM They don't have to provide WHMCS, but that would be nice. Anyone use WestNIC or HostGator?
iHubNet-Matt 08-11-2008, 01:39 PM Have you gone through the offer section. It will be helpful to get a some hosts you are looking for.
bdford 08-11-2008, 01:54 PM It sounds like Innohosting meets all your requirements, except for Windows hosting. :agree:
I personally switched from Mosso to a Managed VPS to Innohosting and have been completely satisfied.

Nnyan 08-11-2008, 06:34 PM I would also recommend Innohosting to you.
Mashiach 08-15-2008, 06:36 AM I personally switched from Mosso to a Managed VPS to Innohosting and have been completely satisfied.

was wondering what made you switch from mosso to vps?
which one performs better in your opinion?
what are the specs of your vps?
are there any mosso resellers around here?
thanks a lot
bdford 08-15-2008, 09:42 AM was wondering what made you switch from mosso to vps?
There were a couple reasons why I switched. During my stay (around 5 months), Mosso was consistently having issues that would cause my clients downtime. Don't get me wrong, I understand that a system this complex is going to have issues, but my clients just wanted their sites up as much as possible and Mosso was unable to satisfy them. To get an idea of what I am talking about, check out Mosso's status feed, which looks a lot like it was when I was hosting with them.
http://status.mosso.com/mosso_system_status/
Near the end of my stay, Mosso started changing their pricing structure and while I, by no means, went to Mosso for the price; it seemed like Mosso was trying to target a different audience instead of resellers (I don't blame them) and I decided it was time to leave.
which one performs better in your opinion?
No question, a VPS (at a reputable provider) performs better. The VPS I have at WiredTree smokes both the performance and uptime that I had with Mosso.
what are the specs of your vps?
I was housing around 100 sites on the VPS 512 (http://www.wiredtree.com/managedvps/) and was completely satisfied. I currently house one of my more high traffic sites on a VPS384 and am just as impressed.
are there any mosso resellers around here?
I have no idea. Sorry.
Summary: Mosso is a really exciting idea and I think they are probably the closest to mastering the "cluster" technology of all the companies I know about. Their email service, which is powered by MailTrust, is absolutely outstanding and their support is very decent (not as good as WiredTree).
Hope this helps.
Mashiach 08-15-2008, 09:52 AM Dear Bdford.
thanks a lot for the complete info!
