View Full Version : how about a SPAM BOX?
imago-allan 09-01-2002, 10:54 AM It's me again.
Hey just got into the htmlforums and I have observed that they have what they call a SPAM BOX Forum. Here is a quote of the forum description:
"Uh oh! If you find your post moved here it means that you haven't followed basic forum etiquette. You're either spaming or cross posting. Feel free to roast these misfits of society."
I guess if the MODS add that a forum something like that here, everyone may be a little cautious of spamming another's thread and observe proper decorum.
:)
XTStrike 09-01-2002, 12:48 PM hmm, interesting, its a little like our "Binned Threads" forum, except ours is hidden, none of your posts are actually deleted they are merely "binned" but theirs has gone one step further to make the Binned threads public.
Haley 09-01-2002, 01:00 PM Good idea to start that forum.
UH-Matt 09-01-2002, 06:00 PM I would like to read through the "binned threads" when im REALLY bored, how about making it public :)
edude 09-01-2002, 06:29 PM I agree, please make it public!
mindboggle 09-01-2002, 07:36 PM I think the mods may have found a new source of income... ;)
$10/thread
:D
ckpeter 09-01-2002, 09:01 PM This may not be such a good idea - The purpose of spamming is to advertise/market, so to eradicate them, the spam posts should be deleted, not made public (even though this may shame them).
I am not say I am against this idea (as of yet), my point is that we need to be careful in making these public.
Peter
dbzgod 09-01-2002, 09:16 PM No, I think that it should be shown publicly.
ckpeter 09-01-2002, 09:18 PM Neo, please support your statement. "No" is not enough.

Chances are they were already roasted before a mod got to it, but to make it viewable to the public only gives them more attention that they don't deserve. I don't think it is a good idea.

Yes, I agree
XTStrike 09-03-2002, 08:08 AM most of them already are roasted first, people dont report the posts until they have hammered the spammer and got a few other people to roast them aswell.
Ive even left threads in place for 30 minutes before now to let people see the hosts name etc...
conceptual 09-03-2002, 04:26 PM It's a good idea just the wrong name. "Trash Pile" is a better name like they have on TF. Only mods ca access the forum though.
Chicken 09-04-2002, 01:40 AM Yeah, well that's how it is now. We have a garbage bin of sorts where things are moved to. As XTstrike said, by the time we've gotten to it, there are generally 10 posts quick to comment on it already, so...
