View Full Version : Billing for Aussie customers?
salsabil 09-01-2002, 10:42 AM Hiya,
What do ppl who resell in Australia use for their CC processor?
Not merchant accounts, but something like 2checkout.com.
Is there an Australian alternative?
And what is the best one (non Australian) for Aussie hosts?
Are there any that charge alot of fees to send it to an australian account?
My main problem seems to be finding a solution to billing ppl...
Thanks in advance,
Salsabil
diederik 09-01-2002, 10:53 AM If you use WorldPay or HostCharge ( I'm sure there are others ) you can bill your customers in AUS $ aswell.
Aussie Bob 09-01-2002, 11:12 AM Hi Salsabil :)
We use http://revecom.com [aka Paysystems.com]. We're an Australian based hosting provider with our servers in the USA.
Paysystems.com wires the funds into our account each Friday from the closing balance that was in our account on the previous Sunday. I suggest you check them out. Feel free to email me if you want details of how we as an Austalian based hosting provider, use their system for credit card processing...:)
AussieHosts 09-01-2002, 12:11 PM You could also consider www.paymate.com.au if you're starting out and want a quicker turnover. They pass payments through quicker (next day for credit cards and 3 days for direct deposit I think). So your client also doesn't need to have a credit card.
It's not an automated system like Revecom (yet), but it's great for logging in and sending a quick invoice from the admin area that your client can pay (PaymateExpress allows them to do so without registering, unlike Paypal). It has low fees, but it disperses them between buyer/seller...but you can work around that easily enough (they are introducing a system whereby the seller absorbs all the fees).
Definitely worth a look to see if it would suit your immediate needs, before progressing to something more advanced such as Revecom. If not only for the fact that your GST is better taken care of.
Cheers
Gary
coight 09-01-2002, 03:07 PM We use worldpay and 2checkout
hosthero 09-01-2002, 03:32 PM I like revecom.com!
They have fraud detection which is really good for stopping frauds from signing up. Using this system has allowed us to reduce chargebacks

Most merchants have fraud detection systems.

I'll second (or 3rd) revecom (paysystems) :)

Relates to the payment threshhold I believe.

:: paVel :: 09-01-2002, 09:32 PM So revecom.com is the same as 2checkout.com and hostcharge.com, but only cheaper?
Which do u like more>?
What would u recommend to a starting web hosting company?
MultiVol 09-01-2002, 10:35 PM hostcharge is the cheapest..

Not speaking for Aussie Bob but there is a system available at Revecom(PaySystems) whereby you are able to set the minimum amount that you wish paid to you. This is not listed in the payment options but you have to justify or request it. Having a minimum value can help in reducing your own currency exchange and / or bank fees. Bob may have his set at that particular value for this very reason but that is his business. Once this is implemented on your account you are then able to set the value which best suits you. :)

Aussie Bob 09-02-2002, 01:52 AM You also need to be pushing a certian amount of volume for them to activate that part. I have ours set so that if the balance at the close of Sunday is US$notgonnatellya :stickout, then that amount is wired into my account by the following Friday. It was a nice feeling to hit "X" amount per week. :D
reseller 09-02-2002, 05:55 AM Do they inform you that you have reached a certain threshold and therefore a new option is available to have it transfered to your bank account?
Getting the cheques is fine, just the 2 week delay from when they post to when it's received makes the accounting a little difficult at times :)
AussieHosts 09-02-2002, 05:59 AM I wasn't aware it was volume based. We've had it since day dot as far as I know. Pop in a support ticket and ask them though, as they are usually fairly quick to respond.
Cheers

reseller 09-02-2002, 06:01 AM Excellent :) thank you kindly.
Wasn't sure if they informed you or you had to guess and send them a request.

It would appear that option is missing from my control panel ;)
Me thinks, it doth relate to minimum thresholds afterall.
AussieHosts 09-02-2002, 06:32 AM Cool. Drop them a line and see if you can find out what it is. But in any case, you can switch to direct deposit and get it fortnightly anyway, which will solve the problem of waiting for your cheques and then banking those.

You thinketh correcteth. If thou were to maketh a small token [bribe] to the support tech from paysystems.com, then they mighteth ticketh the little box that giveth you this amazing capability.
Amen. :D
reseller 09-02-2002, 07:59 AM Ahh is that what you did Bob? :P
How do you record bribes in your monthly cash flow projections? ;)

Just factor them in like you would a normal recurring payment. Some bribes are one off expenses while others are recurring. So hence these recurring bribes need to be syncronised with your future income too. Bribes can easily be written off as "consulting services" etc...:D :buck:
boing 09-03-2002, 06:20 AM we use esec, www.esec.com.au as our gateway and funds get deposited next business day in our westpac merchant account
hope this helps
Snowman30 10-15-2002, 09:09 AM We run an osCommerce based system so we offer Paypal IPN, DD, and CC which is processed thru Westpac (Bank of melbourne). We can plug in just about any system into our cart.
We are also developing a hostcharge module as well
