We've been debating whether or not to install the ASP Package from cobalt's website on our RaQ3 server.

Anyone who has installed ASP, can you please tell me if you have expierenced any problems with it or with the server. Anything I should know of?

Also, does it add a load to the server?

Any bugs that can hurt the server? Any security risk in running it?

Is the ASP package for Cobalt the same ASP for regular Unix servers?.. meaning if I find a ASP script at hotscripts.com, will it work or do I need to look for something specific?

And final question, do a lot of users use ASP? Is it a waste of time if I install it and no one uses it?

Thanks!

I disagree, If you want to port a site from NT then the Chilisoft ASP is a good option. Chances are you will only need to modify a few lines of code.

If you are thinking of starting from scratch then I would recommend using PHP4. If you ever want to move your site away from your RaQ you will have to purchase Chilisoft ASP but PHP4 will run on most platforms and is free.

If you are porting from NT and would like help converting your scripts then give me a shout.
