Please see our UNLIMITED USE POLICY. Thats the catch greatgraddage 03-17-2001, 11:57 AM I read that and I think I can live with it. -Edward- 03-17-2001, 12:02 PM fair enough. but nothing is unlimited so they shouldnt advertise it. greatgraddage 03-17-2001, 12:14 PM I agree totally. Chicken 03-17-2001, 12:25 PM Why not support a host that *doesn't* lie to you right off the bat, posts the limits clearly, and is a member of these forums? http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=3053 Vladimir 03-17-2001, 12:36 PM I guess, the idea is quite simple: if you are satified with something, you should use it, until it stops giving you enjoyment. ;) supanames 03-17-2001, 05:05 PM Hi Guys, Barnaby from Supanames here. I thought that maybe I could explain the reasoning behind our Unlimited Visitor Bandwidth as advertised on our site and perhaps ask for your feedback as I can see some people do not like the Unlimited Bandwidth promises made by hosts. Basically we actually do not have any set limit per account on bandwidth although we do restrict large bandwidth consuming files such as .mp3s. We have never set out any bandwidth limits and the only time when our High Bandwidth Policy would come into play would be if someone uses so much that we simply cannot afford to support them any more. We have never had to implement this even though we have thousands of active users as our users rarely use more than around 2GB of bandwidth in a month due to our restrictions on file types. Please could I have your feedback on what you would prefer us to advertise our bandwidth allowances as? e.g. put some kind of figure on them - call them "Flexable bandwidth allowance" or something? I look forward to reading your replies and thanks in advance for your help! Barnaby, first welcome to WHT! You'll note that we actually only allow surveys of this sort to be posed in the Advertsing forum. You may want to repost this question there. Second, don't take offense at my comment. I'm not apologizing for it, as I do feel it is just an outright lie when a host puts this on their pages, but the fact that you are willing to consider alternatives sets you apart. Without breaching the forum rules myself (by encouraging responses to a survey), I'll simply say that you yourself said (bold above), "someone uses so much", and I suggest you simply put a number on that amount. 15-20 gigs should surfice. :) Again, please post this question in the Advertsing Forum, along with a post about your company, plans, special offers (and don't forget to add yourself to the ATTN ALL HOSTS thread there), and enjoy the discussions! supanames 03-18-2001, 10:29 AM Doh! Sorry for not reading those rules! Can all the guys reading the post make their way to that other forum mentioned (the advertising one) as I will post the message in their for you. Thanks Barnaby [Edited by supanames on 03-18-2001 at 09:48 AM] |
