Hello,

I have a VPS account. It is a Windows server with Plesk and Virtuozzo running. Recently I noticed that Virtuozzo shows that %90 of my HD space is used and only %10 left. VPS has 15 GBs of space and Plesk shows around 2 GBs of Disk Usage for hosting. I am guessing that the rest is used by some sort of log files but I couldn't figure what exactly.

So I checked and saw that C:\SWSoft\Plesk folder is using 9,5 GBs of space.
C:\SWSoft\Plesk\Mail Servers\Mail Enable is using 7,6 GBs.
C:\SWSoft\Plesk\Mail Servers\Mail Enable\Logging is using 4 GB.
C:\SWSoft\Plesk\Mail Servers\Mail Enable\Postoffices is using 1,8 GB.
C:\SWSoft\Plesk\Mail Servers\Mail Enable\Bad Mail is using 1,5 GB.

I am not a very technical person and I am trying to get rid of these huge files. Do you guys know what are these folders and how I can clean them up?

Thank you in advance...

(P.S. I am guessing this is about Virtuozzo and Plesk and not VPS directly so I assume this is the right place to post

Hello,

Well, something does sound right as that clearly does not equal 15GB. I know Plesk usually updates its quota specs (Bandwidth and Harddrive) once a day. Have you always noticed those specs or is this new to you?

Well, after seeing Virtuozzo showing %90 full, I connected using remote connection and browsed every folder. It looks like 13,5 GB is really used. I just wrote there the biggest folder size (Plesk with 9,5 GBs).

When you add the other folders it is much closer to 13,5 GB.

Here are the rest of the folder sizes (approximately):
My documents: 115 MB
I386: 500 MB
Inet: 1340 MB
Program Files: 788 MB
SwSoft: 10 GB (This is where the 9,5 GB Plesk folder located)
Windows: 1400 MB

So I assumed that only Plesk folder can be "cleaned up" and I just mentioned about that folder..

And I have been monitoring the hard disc usage for a few weeks. This is not a new data...

OK, the bulk of that data (7.6 GBs) is taken up by your e-mail. Within that e-mail folder, 4 GB is in logging, 1.8 is in post offices and 1.5 is in bad mail. So it looks like Logging and Bad Mail are the two folders you can zero in on to reduce space.

What logging options do you have enabled in Mailman? How many mail accounts do you have? I wouldn't recommend clearing those logs out until you know for sure what is in them, but it sounds like you can probably clear up about 5.5 gigs of space just from that folder.

Hello,

I indeed went ahead and cleared the logging and bad mail folders' contents. This saved up almost 6 GBs of space. VPS is 53% full now.

I don't now eaxactly what logging options enabled in Mailman. I have never changed them, so they should be on default settings. But since I have never checked a single log for the last 2 years I thought it would be good for the VPS to turn the logging off. I know this is not reccomended but since the VPS is used mostly by my own domains and not by the clients', I think this is the best for the VPS to have some space...

Thank you...
