I will not be at the conference today. This is because Cpanel are bad people and give you very bad hangovers.

So what's going on tonight for those of us that didn't get invites to the Parallels party?

So what's going on tonight for those of us that didn't get invites to the Parallels party?

Parallel had an invite only party? Those bastards!

Parallels invited mostly partners to the party but its also joint with Microsoft so if you have dealings with Microsoft you likely could have also been invited.

NickCatal

It wasn't really 'invite only.'

Anyone who wanted to could just go to their booth all day and ask for a ticket to get in.

Only they ran out of tickets so I just gave my ticket to a friend and went home. I'm not a big fan of parties where it is insanely crowded, no matter how 'free' it is.

Besides, giving out shirts all day is actually rather exhausting.

Speaking of which, if you don't have at least 3 Steadfast shirts by the time you leave make sure you go and get them. Otherwise they become shipping padding, sleeping material, and shirts for lazy people who don't want to do laundry before they go to work. As an added bonus, if you shine a light on yourself while wearing one you have a much reduced chance of being hit by a moving vehicle.

I'll stop by to get them and wear it in Kuala lumpur :)

Is Hostingcon over today?

Maybe Steadfast will tell you their apartment number and hotel so you can go grab your shirt(s) real quick

Yeah, want an entire box of these things?

And we are based in Chicago not that far away from the pier, so you could always stop by the datacenter for a tour and pick up a few.

Ever heard of shirt.woot.com (http://shirt.woot.com)?
American Apparel shirts with cool stuff on the front for $10 including shipping, or $15 with overnight Fedex.

My boss told me he picked one up for me today! :D I'm stoked.

By the way, NickCatal -- I'm doubtful all you brought home was a bright orange shirt. ;) Probably more like 3+ bags of stuff like the rest of us. Can't beat hosting swag!

You mean the 7GB worth of flash drives I have sitting here? The 2 Cpanel water bottles? The Cpanel really annoying manual-powered flashlight, a bunch of squishy balls, pens and an ARIN hat?

And I have 3 of these shirts actually... gotta wear something clean every day...

It was actually a very relaxed and open atmosphere. It was busy, but there was plenty of room to move and nothing felt the least bit crowded. I enjoyed this party more than some I've attended the past two years. You could always grab a seat - they had multiple bars open and there was never a wait for a drink, and playing Halo on the plasma screen was fun too :)

Laid back, relaxed, not too noisy and very good bartenders - it was the perfect evening party!

Shirts, ARIN stickers, 2 cPanel water bottles, flashlight (cool little thing, haha), foam sword, squishy balls, like a bajillion of those juggling balls, a few squishy balls... I could probably go on for a few minutes.

Oh, and a nerf gun. The cats have been going crazy with that.

Well that's unfortunate.

In hindsight we should have given some to the Parallels people and cPanel people and had them duke it out...

Considering 5 people told me the same thing I don't think it is all that much of a secret. From the way cPanel talks it sounds like the Parallels people have been sucking up to cPanel every day, only to have cPanel refuse to sell to them.

Then again, now that cPanel is one of the only people left in the market besides Parallels, they are probably expecting quite the influx of customers over the coming months as Parallels tries to force everyone to Plesk. The thought of which put a damper on the festivities this year.

On to Interworx!

Didn't know that! Well I certainly hope cPanel doesn't sell...

I haven't seen much development at Interworx recently which is kind of unfortunate as it's a really nice panel.
