View Full Version : Jaguar-vps ads
jseymour 07-27-2008, 08:58 PM Sorry to complain. But this has been bugging me all day. I have no problems with viewing ads, but the jaguar vps ads in the vps folders lock my browser every time. I have no problems when any other ads are showing.
Just letting you know.:)
Harzem 07-27-2008, 08:59 PM Which browser?
jseymour 07-27-2008, 09:12 PM Firefox 2 Sorry. Running on Linux if that makes a difference.
Ronald_Craft 07-27-2008, 09:45 PM Try updating to firefox 3? It's vastly improved over version 2. Also..the adblock plugin for firefox does wonders.
catfished 07-27-2008, 11:09 PM Firefox 2 Sorry. Running on Linux if that makes a difference.
Running Firefox 3 on Linux (Ubuntu) with no crashes from Jaquar PC VPS ads or any other ads and I do spend some time in the VPS forum.
RDOSTI 07-27-2008, 11:29 PM Why should you have to add custom ad blocks anyways.
I noticed my IE & FF 3.0 (Vista Business SP1) have issues with some"BLUE COLOURED AD" ..dont think it was the Jag-Ad but something else...one of those peel ads again. Im sure WHT /advertiser solved a past ad but seems the others still need to be fixed.
These ads should be a single format or should be tested before being uploaded. Agreed it time to spend, but its also in the user's best interest.
Patrick 07-28-2008, 12:04 AM I'm also experiencing a similar problem with the JaguarPC ad's, although my browser doesn't lock up but the CPU usage stays at 99% until I change the page. From what I can tell no other advertisements do this, so I'm not sure what's going on. :)
Running FireFox3 and Windows XP ... both with the latest updates.
Edit:
The problem is also present in Internet Explorer.
Energizer Bunny 07-28-2008, 03:46 AM You guys are all correct, just tested it for sakes of testing !
It is infact JAG PC ads, i tried doing lots of reloads and every reload and different ad only had cpu usage of 0-1% but with jag pc ad it stayed over 20% cpu usage and now thats on a c2d e66600 pc ! with 3 gigs of ram and FF 3 and XP PRo.

Thanks for the feedback. Man I am glad it was not just me.
I did end up having to use adblock for these particular ads, but really prefer not to have to.
citricsquid 07-28-2008, 07:55 AM Everytime I get one my PC lags out, it's making this forum painful to use :(
Your VPS PC needs moar power :D
They arent talking about a vps lagging, they are talking about the ads on these forums slowing down their pc. Thats really odd, I havent experienced myself nor know what could cause that. Maybe the Inet folks could chime in.

Yes to be frank wht needs to destroy the flash ads seriously !!
catfished 07-28-2008, 08:04 PM Running Firefox 3 on Linux (Ubuntu) with no crashes from Jaquar PC VPS ads or any other ads and I do spend some time in the VPS forum.
I just checked my CPU usage with the Jaq ad running in the VPS forum and it was ranging from 80 to 91% . As soon as I went back to the main forum menu it dropped to around 20 to 22%. This time I'm on Firefox 3 running XP Pro. I'll check it again later tonight with Linux.
catfished 07-28-2008, 11:43 PM Well, it doesn't happen in Linux or they fixed it. My CPU stayed under 25% while viewing the JaquarPC ad in Firefox 3 running Linux.
Ronald_Craft 07-28-2008, 11:55 PM Personally, I just prefer to run adblock. I really don't enjoy having sites I visit littered with ads. It detracts from the overall appeal of the site. Obviously, ad block programs are the bane of the people paying for the advertising space but eh..thanks to ad block I can avoid the situation you guys have found yourselves in with these jaguar PC ads.
jseymour 07-29-2008, 07:16 AM Seems to have gotten better for me also, at least with just one jaguarpc ad showing (mostly I had problems when 2 were showing at once).
Thanks to all that helped on this. And Jag thanks for your understanding.:)
jseymour 07-29-2008, 08:27 AM W00ps, spoke too soon. Two Jaguar adds in the vps forums shot my cpu to 68%.

You missed the joke :P Your ad said More Power soo..yeah *leaves*
catfished 07-31-2008, 05:01 PM With both skyscraper and vertical Jaguar PC ads running in the VPS forum my CPU went to 100% and stayed there! I was running XP with Firefox 3.
citricsquid 07-31-2008, 05:03 PM I formatted my PC and reinstalled firefox and the lag has gone, maybe it's to do w/ an older version of firefox?

I was running XP with Firefox 3.
I just was there with Linux and Firefox 3 and it was jumping from 70 to 96% with both Jaguar ads running. I'm using the latest stable version of Firefox on both OS's.
jseymour 08-02-2008, 03:49 AM Got it narrowed down to the vertical tower ad from jaguar-pc. If I just block that one the page loads fine. Slows to a crawl with it running.
The horizontal ads at the top of the page seem to cause no problems for me.
GixxerPC 08-19-2008, 07:53 PM the JagPC ad's I know are very colorful and animated.
Using Flash. I know that on some older pc's this could infact lag/crash a browser/pc.
d0mer 08-19-2008, 08:04 PM I'm completely fine with their ads...but I hate those sites when they have a pop-up every few seconds...I spend more time closing ads then viewing the actual site. lol
Dan_EZPZ 08-20-2008, 06:39 AM I spoke to a Flash guru about this a while back and they said it was a poorly designed ad that uses too many embedded movies to animate - not good for CPU usage.
markhard 08-20-2008, 12:33 PM the problem happens on my laptop too, everytime the Jaguar's ads being shown on the right ads (more worse if they being shown both on top and right ads spot) my FF 3 freeze for several seconds (can't scroll or change tabs) and the CPU load is 100%. only Jaguar's ads that i having problem, i don't know what the cause.
some website i read said that it's the flash plugin that having a bug and suggest to upgrade, but i already have the latest plugin :(
