Does anyone recommend any good books for learning html and css from scratch. I know a lil bit already but i'd like to start afresh and give it a real go this summer so if you could point me in the direction of some good books then that would be great

w3schools.com/ as said above is a great online resource, with lots of different technologies to learn and helpful walked through advice.

I used the "For Dummies" book on html/xhtml/css.

w3schools.com is my choice too.
This, plus actually working on writing xhtml and css from scratch. The best way to learn is practice, trial and error.
