This may come to you as being funny that someone in the web hosting business would praise another company than her own. I would probably think it strange too if I read something like that.
But in order to understand where I come from, you'd need a quick timeframe of the situation: I have been in web hosting (reselling) since February 2002; I have had my site with valai.net since November 2001. No conflict there given the fact I also became friend with Balaji, the admin.
You know how you always hear those promises or 99% uptime and before long you try and remember how good it sounded because your sites are acting up like a yo-yo? Well I was pretty much expecting that to be the case with Valai when I signed up, but I had a very affordable hosting solution and, what's more, they were willing to let me pay with a money order because I didn't have (and still don't) a credit card.
10+ months later, the only times my site went down were:
1) When I goofed up and accidentaly changed the nameservers
2) When they upgraded Apache on July 6th.
That was it. 2 hours of downtime on their part in 10 months. And that 2 hours was even scheduled downtime! Heck, this means my personal site has a better uptime than our company site. How sad is that?
So anyways, I just wanted to give a thumbs up because I thought it truly deserved it. Way to go!
