Wondering if anyone has experiences with these? We've grown to the size that additional sales and CSRs are needed to handle new clients (support's staffed fine) and I'm pondering the idea of opening another sales office. Reasons are good, benefit is there, just wondering what others in this situation have done?
Thanks for your time,
-Matt

Why not just expand into something bigger? I read somewhere you only had a few employees. Why spread yourself out?
If you are set on having the "multilpe Location" thing so you can put flags of the different countries you have offices in, do what most those knuckleheads do and hire someone from another country. Ask what their address is to their house and say you now have international reach.

UmBilly,
We're a fair bit bigger than a few people. I'm looking into regional sales to integrate consumer hosting with other services we offer. I'm wondering what the experience of others is with multiple sales locations for consumer hosting in local markets.
I don't need another flag, this is by no means a "me-too" random potshot at growing business and looking good. RackNine's doing well enough at those two aspects already, thank you :D

Ps. What's your address? Can I add it and call you a corporate advisor? j/k

Hey. I have an idea. Don't post questions in a public forum if you do not want feedback. j/k
Anyway, I really do not see the benifit of someone your size growing into multiple offices. It isn't as easy as you think. This is why most large host have only one location.
Reading 'web hosting' I see no real advantage. Reading 'consulting' (which I guess you still do?), then sure. But even then large consulting firms use people out of their homes. Telecommuting. Gives them a bigger footprint.
I was kidding about the flags. However some who come hear actually do this.

What's the point of expanding out in this manner? What benefits do you receive for the extra $$$$$ you're outlaying and adding to your monthly cashflow?
I mean, isn't communication via email mostly anyways? I understand that mchost has 4 "offices" in certian countries. I see this as confusing the process of operations. It could work if you ran a specific product for that country and your customer acquisition was targeted in that manner and the branch for that country was under another domain etc. I thought we were all about centralisation and cost saving methodologies and not embracing ideology from a bygone era.
Anyways, just curious...

Thank you both. I'll take everything that's been said into consideration. A home-office is an idea that came up, unfortunately due to our needs is not a means of achieving goals at this time.
UmBilly, you're very correct, a public forum like WHT is not the place to discuss this matter. I'd bet a chance on finding someone in a similar situation and discussing the matter further in private, though in my ignorance should have expected that with a vague question I would receive this kind of answer.
Sincerely,
-Matt

Bob, you are perfectly right with centralisation and cost savings. However, "having offices in multiple countries", gets an impression of a big company.

In todays net world international offices are not a problem and you can control it from your country online centralized.

You can always find an independent salesperson in another city to handle your acocunts. That way you can say you have a presence there.
And what is up with MCHOst's sales offices? :-)
