ICQ

This update of the popular chat tool lets you chat, send files, play
games, and surf the Web with friends. You can set up buddy lists, just
like on AOL, so you'll know when your friends are online. The program
detects and supports a variety of firewalls. ICQ also gives you a
record of every communication event sent or received.

This program features ICQphone, which lets you make PC-to-PC or
PC-to-phone calls. Other useful features include a quick-launch bar,
ICQMail, and Web search. Features new to this version include Add and
Find Users buttons, People Search by keywords or free text, ICQ Email
signatures, and improved spam protection. Configurable Alert sounds
make a comeback in this version. You can also pick and choose the
features that you want, and the Contact List is now saved on ICQ's
servers, making it available from whatever computer you're using.

Version: 2002a Beta Build #3728
Price: Free

Trillian was a great idea, but it hardly ever works for me :(

Nooooooo. I hope they won't turn off my current version of ICQ. :(
Anyways, I use AIM like 85% of the time now (with AIM+). :D

I've used ICQ for years now but it's bloatware. I just like its offline messaging capabilities. Otherwise it's mostly Microsoft Messenger for me.

Trillian beats the hell out of having yahoo, aim, msn, and icq open at once.

If I want to make phone calls, Ive got NetMetting for vid conf and Ive got a cell phone with 4000 minutes fo $39 a month with free national long distance. Short of calling Australia or some other place, I can get in touch with pretty much anyone just fine.

Until AIM sends messages offline, ICQ will still be #1. Plus AIM is associated with AOL more than ICQ (which they also own).

Only if you were offended if I told you hell is a made up imaginery place, created by a God who loves you but damns you there anyhow. I could go on and on why I dont believe (and trust me, I was brought up Lutheran, but religion could never answer any of the questions I had) but I will save that for another day when I feel like ranting :)

I've never seen Trillian, what's the url? I guess I always could do a search in Google. Nah, that would be too easy ;)

On topic? ICQ sucks! :o Seriously though, it really does. I think it's THE most bloated, ad-filled POS I've ever used, and fairly unstable to boot. I usually just use AIM, though I also have ICQ, MSN, & Yahoo accounts. As for offline messages, try e-mail ;)

Yes, I want attention and I am looking for a fight.

I read the bible daily. How often do you read it? How long have you studied theology? How often do you talk to experts and religious leaders?

This is why beer should be banned from WHT. :D

Not worth the effort, unless you want to set a new post record here. ;)

Trillian messes up your ICQ contact list too much. I use (and always have, apart from 5 minutes testing out ICQ 2002) icq 2000b with a no ads hack and it's great...

Mester

If you use ICQ, get ICQ Plus. It lets you put on skins that actuially look good as well as chopping off the ads :)
