keywolf 07-18-2008, 06:30 PM Hi,
Would it be possible to do a different hard drive configuration on that? Say 2x250GB with Software RAID1?
Do you allow IRC clients and bots (no servers) to EFnet and GameSurge?
markhard 07-19-2008, 12:51 AM how much it cost for 8 IPs and more?
greenreader 07-19-2008, 12:57 AM You can check it from there order page
I think it is 8$ for 13 total Ip's
kenbiz 07-19-2008, 04:34 AM Do you offer files transfer facility?
Ryan G - Limestone 07-19-2008, 06:00 AM Do you allow IRC clients and bots (no servers) to EFnet and GameSurge?
Yes IRC Clients and bots are allowed to connect to servers like EFnet and GameSurge.
how much it cost for 8 IPs and more?
All of our servers come standard with 8 IPs (5 Usable). The next block up would be 16 IPs (13 Usable) for an additional $8/month.
Do you offer files transfer facility?
Sorry, we do not offer any sort of file transfer service from an existing server.
jumpinjack 07-19-2008, 06:03 AM Hi,
Would it be possible to do a different hard drive configuration on that? Say 2x250GB with Software RAID1?
You didn't answer this question. I am also interested in a different hard drive configuration.
keywolf 07-19-2008, 10:14 AM Ive spoken to Ryan G on live support and they said they would do a Dual 250GB drive setup on request instead of the 750GB single drive.
Prolime Servers 07-19-2008, 11:04 AM yeh i too asked the same and they said yes they can do just put a special note while ordering
hosteur 07-19-2008, 11:05 AM Yes, bandwidth pooling is allowed between servers. The average server setup time is just 2-4 hours.
Best,
Mike
So if I have 2 servers with you ( 2 x 2000GB of BW ), I can use from:
Server A: 3000GB and from Server B: 1000GB, correct?
hosteur 07-19-2008, 11:07 AM yeh i too asked the same and they said yes they can do just put a special note while ordering
So you can get 1 x 250GB + 1 x 500GB instead of the original 750GB... :D
Prolime Servers 07-19-2008, 12:52 PM So you can get 1 x 250GB + 1 x 500GB instead of the original 750GB... :D

jumpinjack 07-20-2008, 03:36 AM yeh i too asked the same and they said yes they can do just put a special note while ordering
I also asked Ryan G this yesterday on live chat, lol.
Also asked about the 2x320GB instead of 2x250GB, and was told to email sales, so have done that :)
Mike - Limestone 07-20-2008, 01:39 PM Note: This promotion expires on Monday, July 21, 2008. Sorry for the typo!
To answer the questions posed on this thread:
We can do 2x250GB instead of 1x250GB for the same drive. 3x250GB or 1x250GB+1x500GB would cost more. RAID would also cost more (see order form for the RAID card pricing).
For most of our clients, 1x750GB or 2x250GB is the most economical configuration on this server.
Bandwidth pooling would work as hosteur described, but note that there is a $25 bandwidth pooling charge per server.
Thanks,
Mike

dinek 07-20-2008, 02:14 PM Hello,
Can you explain how bandwidth pooling works? ie we pool 2 servers with 2tb and they both share 4TB of traffic. This would cost us 2x25USD fee. Is that a correct assumption?
Best regards,
Dino Strzeminski

keywolf 07-21-2008, 06:59 AM Shame this sale ends soon, I could do with one of these in a few days, Any chance of extending this?
jumpinjack 07-21-2008, 08:22 AM Oh, I was just about to click on checkout and glancing through the TOS when I saw this:
-------
First Spam Abuse Notification (Limestone -> Client):
- Provide the Abuse Notification to the client, and assess a $25 fine. Failure to pay the fine within 24 hours may result in service interruption, due to suspension.
-------
Does this mean if one of my clients is sending spam, or one of their site scripts are hacked and their account is used to send spam, I will incur a fine?
This happened to me once, and Softlayer just notified me and I quickly determined the source and upgraded said client's insecure script. No fines or anything.
Can you clarify this please?

The base price of the configuration is $134.99 monthly. The Raptor hard drive upgrade adds $10 monthly, the 100mbps port speed upgrade adds $5 monthly, and cPanel/WHM adds $25 monthly. Your final price would be $174.99 monthly.
I emailed sales two days ago but haven't heard back.
SORRY! Please email us again or open a live chat. It was HECTIC over the weekend, and we may have missed your email.

I don't think so, but I'll pass along the request. :) More than likely, we'd run the sale again at some point in the future.

I am curious about this as well. It does so happen that every once in a while, a clueless customer will place an insecure script on the server and it will be used for spamming. We are always responsive to abuse notices and take action as quickly as possible, and also follow up with any RBL lists that may have added our IPS.
So are you saying everytime this happens, we are going to incur fees? You can secure a server all you want, if you allow script to send emails and the author of the script doesn't have sufficient security knowledge, script hijacking will happen....
I was about to cancel my order with ThePlanet which hasn't been filled in 5 days and order with you, but this has me holding back.
Protollix 07-21-2008, 11:24 AM I just spoke with Mike via Live Chat, and he put my fears to rest. I won't speak for him or the company - but from what I got out of it:
in a vps or shared environment, they tend to pass the complaint on to you and let you handle it. If you are unresponsive, or give them a hard time over it - they may assess fines and such.

Mike - Limestone 07-21-2008, 04:01 PM I just spoke with Mike via Live Chat, and he put my fears to rest. I won't speak for him or the company - but from what I got out of it:
in a vps or shared environment, they tend to pass the complaint on to you and let you handle it. If you are unresponsive, or give them a hard time over it - they may assess fines and such.
To clarify this policy, here is the word from one of our network administrators:
"Typically I try to be very fair with the fines--a lot of our shared/VPS hosting providers will never see a fine. As long as I know they're doing shared/VPS hosting, I try to give them the courtesy of forwarding the complaint and waiting for a response. The only reason I would knowingly fine a shared host is if they were completely unresponsive of combative in the past regarding spam issues." [emphasis added]
Concerning dedicated boxes, a one-time complaint is unlikely to lead to a fine. The fine may occur if a situation is not improved. It's usually pretty clear cut - either the complaints stop / slow down significantly once we speak with the client, or the complaints even increase (e.g. the client spams more).

That's pretty normal, sound practice, and it's what I expected was the case. But the actual terms of the TOS are horrible, and that's the contract that we have to agree to as customers.
I was seriously considering bringing my entire business across, but when I saw the TOS, I was stopped in my tracks.
I really think it would be worth having this clarified in the TOS itself.
