Hi there, I was with one&one and have transferred to another web host - webhosting uk

The reason is because I want my sites hosted from UK IP's not German ones as with one&one in Europe.

So my question is I have the "webhosting UK" service set up and am downgrading the one&one service to just have the domains.

Is there any way I can have the domains I bought from one&one call up my web space with webhosting UK?

I want the domain in the URL too so not just forwarding the domain with one&one to my new host.

Thank you.

Ok. If you registered with 1and1, then they should still provide you with DNS service. Whoever you registered the domain name with should provide you with a renewal date on the domain. That is the only service you would need from them.

Is there any way I can have the domains I bought from one&one call up my web space with webhosting UK?

Try to find something on the 1and1 site that lets you manage your domain, you are looking for a forward zone with your domains name. I dont use 1and1 so I dont know the exact location, but you will want to find a way to edit forward zones, or records. Set the 'A' record for 'www' to the IP for your new server.

I want the domain in the URL too so not just forwarding the domain with one&one to my new host.

I'm not sure about this exactly. Did you register at the new host with a different name? If not, just set you server on the new host to respond to the domain name you want.

Or maybe you mean the nameserver domains; ns1.yourdomain, and not ns1.1and1 ? Changing that can depend on how much they let you change in the TLD nameservers. I think some will see that you are pointing to their IPs and make you use their name.

Or maybe you mean you bought domain.eu with 1and1, and now you want to have domain.uk instead? Whatever domain you have, is wherever (server IP) you place it (with DNS records).

Do you want to own and host both domain.eu, and domain.uk on the same IP and have the exact same content? Then you want to add an alias for the virtual host to listen for the other domain. Or create a 2nd virtual server for the other domain, and just point it at the same directory. If you want the content different, then use different folders on the server.
