View Full Version : Best source for new customers...
Shylock 08-29-2002, 11:30 PM I've been having some difficulty getting new clients. Word of mouth has worked well for me but I want to know what has generated your best results.
-Keyword bidding
-Email marketing
-Telemarketing / cold calls
-Canvasing businesses in person
-Web hosting comparison and listing sites
-banner adds
etc.
Thanks in advance.
Akash 08-29-2002, 11:38 PM my local market has always been a great source....but I've also advertised my company in all my signatures (from personal email, to any forums i'm registered with, giving a unique URL for each one)....i've found that i've gotten some good returns with that also....
alohahosts 08-29-2002, 11:43 PM word of mouth, or referrals, has worked the best for me.
I also do not cold call, but I do talk to alot of people. Interestingly enough when I meet someone I have never met before they always ask what I do for a living...... perfect opening for a warm sale.
JSpired 08-29-2002, 11:45 PM Word of mouth and local advertising has worked best for us.
insiderhosting 08-30-2002, 05:30 AM I think that word of mouth should be your number 1 source for customer aquisition. Having said that, you should also dress up nicely in somewhat formal attire and go to the local businesses with a pamphlet and a business card attached and introduce yourself and leave them with the information. Also possibly look into sponsoring a few sites and in exchange have them put a link back to your site and see if that works out (we haven't used this last method, but I would assume that it would work providing you sponsor a targetted site.

Word of mouth is the promotion you get by your happy customers. They spread to all their relatives the nice service you are offering to them.
HostQAMan 09-01-2002, 09:41 PM From my experience in the web hosting biz seems to show that if you don't have a good grasp on the local market you won't make it. Those customers that can come down to the office or give you a call when the need some help right away will be the most loyal customers you have if you have issues.
:: paVel :: 09-01-2002, 11:41 PM Local market is good, but what about search engines? online marketing? etc....?
I think u should use everything u can!;)
JustinH 09-01-2002, 11:47 PM Word of Mouth isn't JUST the promotion you get from happy clients. Remember it this way: For ever happy customer you have they will tell 2 people. For every unhappy customer you have, they will tell 5 people.
