Hi guys,
I am currently building up a new server for webhosting purposes. Should I go for
:-
1) 4 x 2GB ECC FB RAM + 2 x 250GB SATA II
OR
2) 2 x 2GB ECC FB RAM + 2 x 73GB SAS
Please advise. Thanks.

It really depends on how your offering plans. EX: the option #1 has 8GB RAM and a lot of space, but you really need that 8GB RAM and storage? The advantage of options #2 is having better drives and faster disk I/O, but it will give you less storage. If you need more RAM, you can upgrade it later. So, I would go with option #2 if I were you!
Have fun with building your new server! :)

I agree with Vinax - I would go with option #2 as it has faaster disk drives which means fast DB connections and higher response for websites.
On the other hand, if you were to go with option #1, you have a lot of spare RAM (unless you have a lot memory chewing websites) and lots of disk space.

I'd say it depends on your target market. If disk space is high on your customer's priority list, go for #1.

Those SAS drives will come in very handy. :)

#2, but why not try and get the 400GB SAS drives if you can.
As running raid will leave you with less than 70GB's of usable space (let alone what you get after proper partitioning)
If your not running raid then you will have more space obviously.
