Fully recognizing that this is probably not something many people will want to do...
Is it possible for me to "hide" the Social Issues forum when I am logged in? There are several political sites I go to that have plenty of heated political debates, and when I come here, more contentious political discussion isn't something I want.
Is there a way to hide this sub-forum? I could write a Greasemonkey script, but I figured I'd see if there was an 'official' way first.

The only way you can hide that forum is by hiding all of this section. (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=34).

Use AdBlock with Element Hiding Helper and edit out that forum :) Or do as AussieBob says :) No one says you need to visit that forum.

not only these, but i also ignore people i chose to ignore by just skipping their posts. i dont even use the ignore util. so it can be done.
The problem is that an inflammatory topic will often show up as the most recent post in the Lounge, making it hard to ignore. I can simply ignore it on sight, which I usually do, but I'd prefer to not even see it.
Oh well, I kind of figured it wasn't possible. I'll work on my best ignoring skills. ;)

Another way is to make SOCIAL ISSUES a "group membership" which members can sign up for from thier control panel. (The staff has final say wheather a member can join the group and thus accept the request to join) Members not in that group WONT SEE THAT BASE.
