View Full Version : Is 20gb enough? Advice appreciated.
myself1982 08-29-2002, 05:21 PM Hey
So i *plan* to make a warez type site, linking to music ftps/game links/movies etc etc, the host i am planning to go with offers 20gb bandwidth month.
Now, all my site will be HOSTING, is the html pages, and the images, now, i cannot say for certain how many images there will be, i suspect, not *that* much, but generally speaking, with just images and html pages being hosted on my server, will 20gb be enough for month?
I know it depends on hits etc etc, but as i say, *generally*.
Thanks
It'll probably be enough. Since your account will be canceled rather rapidly, since no host that I've ever seen will allow it.
Synwave 08-29-2002, 05:26 PM Who are the hosting company you are planning to go with?
myself1982 08-29-2002, 05:36 PM I have already spoken to the host, this was the reply i got
'As long as you are having only html/images on the server and just
linking to other sites , we do not have any problems at all'
As i said, i won't be HOSTING any illegal files, only html pages and images.

tribby 08-29-2002, 06:33 PM The tech responsible for the reply given to you was confused by your question and has been contacted and corrected.
You may not, under any circumstances, link to any illegal files through our services. Please look elsewhere for illegal hosting.
ForumsAddict 08-29-2002, 06:41 PM This clears out the things :D
2Grumpy 08-29-2002, 06:44 PM After reading over those court cases where linking to those files was in fact deemed as breaking the law, no host with an ounce of sense will touch it with a 10 foot pole.
At least no host based in the US and many other countries.
ForumsAddict 08-29-2002, 06:50 PM Ditto...
Dixiesys but there are still hosts out there that will host such sites for a very nominal charge... :(
Pilgrim 08-29-2002, 06:55 PM There are hosts out there that will host ANY site for any amount. You can find most of them here (http://webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=32) :D
ned patter 08-29-2002, 06:58 PM Well if you get an account and a host doesn't like it then well they won't get your money.
Hosts don't get into trouble for illegal stuff it is the webmaster.

I know. They just say here "Ohhhh am not hosting that" just to keep a good name.
ForumsAddict 08-29-2002, 07:03 PM If we really get in touch with reality. There are thousands of warez sites on the net running free. Hosts are just 1 side of the story...:)
