Hello,

I just rented a dedicated server at Exportal, and I'm in the middle of setting up my domain, pcmdaily.com. The domain is already registered elsewhere, so what I need help with is simply the DNS settings.

As default, the name servers are listed to be ns1.domain.com and ns2.domain.com. I suppose this is wrong, but I don't know what to write here.

Is there anything else I need to know?

Thanks a lot for your help.

In WHM -> Nameserver IPs -> Assign your two NS there (take note of the IP's which WHM assigned to them so you can use them below)

Where the domain is currently pointing, create two A records of the NS' using the IP's from above.

Hope this helps.

The problem is that I don't have a nameserver. What would my name server be? Currently, my domain's name servers are NS.lunarpages.com, NS2.lunarpages.com, but as said, I have now rented a dedicated server, so I suppose the name servers have to be changed.

Oh right, so you want to completely move your domain to the server.

Do what I said in the first post, and as a third step

- As well as creating the A records on the server, you need to "register" the same details at your registrar.

Sorry, I'm very, very new at this, so I need more assistance, I guess.

I have this list of settings (see attachment). What do I need to change, what and how?

Thanks a lot.

I was assuming you had cPanel/WHM. I have not had experience with DirectAdmin, but the general idea still goes. You need to create two A records (NS1 + NS2) with the IP's of both - Your server should have came with atleast 2 IP's.

You first need to create Child name servers at the registry if you havent already..

basically child nameservers are those which are registered with your TLDs registry under your domain name... you are required to register nameservers with them before you can use them as nameservers..

once this is done you can obtain the IP address of your dedicated server and create A records pointing your name servers to these IP addresses..

Hope this helps..

Hello,

You can use your dedicated server providers nameservers, I believe all dedicated resellers and Data center have a name servers which can used by their clients, Please check once with your provider.
