It's on Softlayer hardware - nothing but quality..Supermicro.

thanks to the mods correcting the typo - we asked here: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=704931 and it seems that 51% of you sees a gige port as the most important feature... So here you go :)
hosteur 07-11-2008, 05:11 AM Which DC or can we choose?
nickn 07-11-2008, 10:53 AM You can choose. Any of the three - with Seattle being in limited supply right now.
Prolime Servers 07-11-2008, 12:02 PM It's on Softlayer hardware - nothing but quality..Supermicro.
:( softlayer hardwares and quality :( that was the only reason why we planned to migrate from softlayer...
they provide bad quality hardware , network is awesome but hardware sucks
if a simple load increase server went down....right now also i have servers with softlayer...and i love the network but hates hardware
nickn 07-11-2008, 12:21 PM Rounak,
You have had to a fluke experience with Softlayer hardware. It's Passmark tested, and only the top servegrade hardware.
We have nothing at all but good experiences with the many many servers we currently oversee at all three of their datacenters.
Prolime Servers 07-11-2008, 12:49 PM im just telling you from my current experience my friend..anyways No offense ... best of luck with your services

Yep - it must have been an isolated issue, I don't doubt your experiences, just saying, in general the hardware at Softlayer is TopNotch.
flashwebhost 07-12-2008, 04:32 AM We will be able to connect to our existing softlayer servers using private network on same DC ?

Sorry guys, I sleep.
Your setup required special partitioning not even possible through SL's control panel (You can't put a swap on the second drive there)
Server will be online within the next 2-4 hours max. We will be starting your anniversary date as July 14th (Monday).

You can connect your servers via the Private Network.
Quang, Your order was finalized at 6:21pm. You requested 64bit CentOS and we advised at that time that the configuration was not possible if you wanted a production box.
Regardless, I do agree that this has taken longer than it should, and I've started your anniversary date Monday, you've received a free day of credit as a result of this slow setup.
hosteur 07-12-2008, 11:49 AM Thanks Nick, don't forget to compile the right kernel to use the whole 4GB of RAM...

As long as you're serving legal files, we're good with it :)

thinking to pick up one at the end of this month.

hosteur 07-13-2008, 04:38 AM Your guys didn't provide os reload from SL's portal, I did request one, how long does it take to apply? Can't wait...
hosteur 07-13-2008, 08:06 AM Well, I start regretting to not directly deal with SL, it take age to reload the OS from my server.
It just a few clicks under the SL's portal ( also for custom partion, I know that because I did it by my self by the past )...

We can enable the OS reload option for you if you like. Can you provide me with the ticket number where you requested the OS reload from our techs? This is usually a 1-2 hour operation, so I'm a bit surprised to hear it hasn't been done yet.
Marc
hosteur 07-13-2008, 10:21 AM Here my ID [ Client ID: 186971 ], hope you can enable the os reload from SL portal.
midphase-MarcB 07-13-2008, 10:39 AM Here my ID [ Client ID: 186971 ], hope you can enable the os reload from SL portal.
I have enabled the OS reload option in the SL portal for you.
Looking through this ticket, I'm not sure why you felt this wasn't being handled? You had a pretty specific partition scheme with OS reload. Our techs fired off the OS reload after you requested it, but SL took around 2 hours to get it all completed.
Even though it's a simple click in the SL portal, it still takes time to reprovision.. particularly if you have specific partition tables.
Marc
hosteur 07-13-2008, 10:45 AM Thanks again Marc for for enabling the os reload option.
When we have a particular HD partitionning, simply open ticket and ask SL's tech to set/record it under the server account, so each time the customer can simply use the same scheme...
BTW, I still have issue with software/plug in upgrade under whm ( very slow and freeze during upgrade )... Also have a lame FANTASTICO install ( cannot install it under whm )...
If your guys can get these thing sorted, thanks again.

Probably best to not turn this thread into a support forum though. If you have any concerns, please feel free to PM myself or Nick.

Did you get yours yet? A tech had to install the second drive, so that can add a few hours depending on how busy softlayer is.
You should have it by now though.

WaferVPS 07-16-2008, 01:56 AM Do you have bigger harddrives? Do you take a one time fee?
Do you have RAID? Do you take a one time fee?
How long will the extra free server promotion last?
How much do extra ips cost?
Do you provide KVM?
Will I become an unwanted customer if I(legaly) consume the entire 10TB every month on several machines?(Just be honest please.)
Will there be discounts for clients that rent several machines?
If I pay today for 2 months, I'm paying for the current month, and prepaying the next, so do I get an extra server for 2 months or just 1?
tsj5j 07-16-2008, 10:39 PM Some questions :
1.) What would be the price for the upgrade to 8GB RAM? (#1). One time or?
2.) Is there any way around overage fees? I've a feeling it can get rather scary on a 1000mbps port. Perhaps changing the 10TB to a capped unmetered port?
Thanks.

We do offer bigger drives, but do not offer one time payments. Bigger drives start at $30/month and go up from there.
RAID is available at $50/month
There's no definite to the BOGOF, but it'll likely end before the end of summer. Extra Ips are 50 cents a month, and KVM over IP is provided free.
We have plenty of clients who use all 10TB, and we love them :)
And, BOGOF is on 3-6-12 month terms only.

An extra 4GB of RAM would be $100/month extra
We can put you down to a 100mbit port - while we can offer uncapped, it's not the most attractive offer honestly.
Extra $100/mo for 10mbit unmetered, extra $2000 for 100mbit unmetered.

nickn 07-17-2008, 01:16 AM what would be price for cPanel, do you allow proxys and warez linking ?
$25/mo for cPanel, no proxy/warez.
flashwebhost 07-17-2008, 09:43 AM Extra $100/mo for 10mbit unmetered, extra $2000 for 100mbit unmetered.
10mbit unmetered is 3.3 TB ? Then why charge $100 extra for using less bandwidth than your basic 10 TB offer ?
tsj5j 07-17-2008, 09:55 AM 10mbit unmetered is 3.3 TB ? Then why charge $100 extra for using less bandwidth than your basic 10 TB offer ?
Same question.
10mbit unmetered, even pushed to the MAXIMUM, is roughly 6.6TB (IN/OUT).
Sellers of unmetered bandwidth should know that the max can never be achieved.
For one, your incoming traffic will probably be in the sub-4mbps.
Therefore, 10mbps unmetered will translate to roughly 3TB usage even when pushed heavily.
So the question is, why charge $100 more for 60% less bandwidth?
Prolime Servers 07-17-2008, 11:45 AM $25/mo for cPanel, no proxy/warez.
Nick No Proxies ?
ru sure ?
