We've been using Modern Bill to manage and control our small account hosting. It seems to be a half way decent account manager, but we are a larger corporation which needs to integrate this divisions books with our main acounting system. Modern bill is a horrific accounting program, and we are constantly having to manually clean it up.
Can y'all (love that word)suggest another software package that manages accounts like Modern Bill but has much better business/accounting functionality?

Normally I would just suggest WHMCS all willy-nilly like, but I can't in this situation because I am not sure about its accounting functionality and how a "large corporation" would use it.
Maybe you want to try investing money into a custom in-house solution that works specifically for your needs. Plenty of PHP coders around here if you can't make anything in-house and need some outsourced help.
Good luck bud!

Been there done that, its not as easy as it might seem.. Billing accounts is one thing but full fledge accounting and what goes with it just isn't fun.

We built a "backend" script for us to login to it pulls the financial records from WHMCS and combines with our own db for our outgoings and gives us nice and simple figures. Not to hard todo if you browse the db of WHMCS i cant see MB/CE etc being much different.

You may wish to consider WHM Autopilot, Ubersmith, LPanel and ClientExec.

i suggest you use WHMCS it is a lot easier to use and quite handy with small and large hosting services.
I have been using WHMCS and i haven't had any unnatural problems.

None of the billing systems I have seen (MB, CE, WHMCS, Whoiscart....) is usable as an accounting system.

UberSmith can be somewhat expensive compared to the other options but for the accounting requirements you have they may have a stronger offering. We are still looking into this at the moment so all I can give you is a link.

We also have this similar problem where we have to integrate our numbers into our parent companies books at the end of the year and is very time consuming with Modernbill.

Ubersmith has yet to update to the 21st century, not being compatible with PHP5 and all...

Especially after telling their users it'd be ready by mid-May. It's now mid-July and nothing.
