Hello,
I need a SSL for a new server I have a number of resellers on.
Best price I can see is US$49/year.
Will this be ok for a shared ssl for my resellers, or could it cause security problems for them? I.E are the $49 ones though of by browsers as secure trusted ok?

For something as important as an ssl cert, don't only look for the cheapest price, you want to look at other factors such as compatability with the various browsers, etc.. I would recommend going to the various certificate issuers and checking on their compatability. Also, it depends how you setup the cert on the server, but most companies here allow the use of their shared cert.

wise words indeed.
the best coverage is offered by:
Verisign, Thawte, Baltimore and Entrust. They all have around 99% browser coverage. So your question should be how you can get your hands on a certificate using one of the above root certs cheaply. I suggest instantssl.com as they have started (only yesterday) selling certs issued using Baltimore certs for $49! And unlike geotrust these guys offer full and proper validation! or you can go to one of their resellers like ssl4less.com and get the exactly same cert for around $44!
comodo (the guys behind instantssl) have a website called www.whichssl.com which provide information about browser compatibility of everyone in the ssl market.
