I have an email address in one of my sites and I use Outlook to read my mail. I have it set to download new mail every minute, and I do not have the option checked off to leave a copy on the server. This site resides on my own dedicated server.

I just happened to login to the webmail account for this addy, and saw over 85,000 emails in there.

Do I have some improper setting, whether server side or user side that keeps all those emails in my webmail account? If so, how do I fix it? And how do I delete all those emails in webmail? If I tried doing it in webmail itself, it would take forever. Is there some command line I can run, or perhaps delete them via my FTP client program?

You can delete the mail folder in your cpanel root, or try one of these tool, http://www.configserver.com/

Thanks. Can you tell me how to delete the mail folder in root? (Sorry, my linux skillset is sorely lacking...)

All the mail for an account is stored in the following folders.

/home/username/mail/domain/account/new
/home/username/mail/domain/account/cur

You can FTP into your account and delete the files in there.

The mails directories of the main cpanel account are stored in /home/username/mail. Also I would suggest to check the default mail address set for the domain and set it to fail.

Set default address to fail .. that should keep away most of these junk mails.
