More than 1 year ago I ordered the cheapest plan with Digitalspace but I never heard back from them even after mailing them a few days after the order. I was just going to use this account for temp. sites so I didn't really care more about this matter.

But guess what I received yesterday? An invoice stating what I had ordered and what I should pay (more than 1 year ago) and the invoice said I had ordered it yesterday. I find this hilarious and imagine that they list their setup time on their site:

"Account Setup: Around 1 year (maybe a little more)" :)

Thank god I never ordered a dedicated server from them...

Blame it on the y2k bug... heehee

or maybe their servers date was wrong when you placed the order and then they fixed it shortly after you placed the order... this does happen, emails seem to go through a time warp.

I've had several accounts with them. When I first ordered, I had to bug them several times and then they said they had a backlog and would get to me. After that, signing up was easy and the service was okay. One major problem I had with them is downtime. I've got a monitoring program watching some of them and the sites lose connection several times a week and sometimes for hours. I sent them a list of downtimes and they said they had problems that were now fixed and then I kept getting down time.
I'm moving my accounts as they expire because I need more space. I understand getting what you pay for but I will say the tech support was always polite.
Good luck if you go with them.

Well, it couldn't have been a y2k bug as I made the otder in late January, early February.

But maybe this is a hint not to use this company. For me it looks like they misplaced the order and just found it yesterday and thought "What the hell, we might as well try to make some money from this jerk".

It is really funny. Thanks to god that they didn't charge you for last one year :)

Well, I never gave them my credit card info so they couldn't :)

Heh! ;)) Maybe, their server's date was wong, and they've celebrated NY right in late January ? :) And after drinking alo of beer some evil and scary bug crawls to them... eating up orders, invoices, et cetera... Such a psychodelic y2k bug... ;) Just kidding... You know, maybe they've to process orders by hand in these early times... who knows.

I signed up for a custom account a year ago, I got the confirmation that I signed up and my account would be created within the the next 48 hours. 48 hours later, it wasn't set up. I contacted their support and they said they took away the custom account option. Too bad they didn't remove it from their site...real professional, eh? I then signed up for a regular account, which was created in minutes.

I left DS a month ago and went to Hosting Matters. I'm very happy at HM. :)

Just to sum things up : automatic account creation with integrated billing procedures seems to be the best way to get rid of such incidents, and also, if you're a sysadmin, it saves your nerves, you don't need to wake up in the middle of the sweetest dream just to create a couple of users ;)
