I'm considering starting a gameserver hosting using TCAdmin and ClientEXEC. What other software packages will provide me a service that I'm overlooking here? Any tips from anyone who has been in my shoes before?

thanks guys!

Who is your target market? Are you going to offer high end servers? (timing software will be needed)

Do you have a business plan?

What games do you plan on hosting?

How do you plan on supporting customers, ClientEXEC only?

How will you bill customers?

How will you prevent chargebacks and cut down fraud?

How will you secure the servers?

Do you plan on overloading/overselling the servers?

Backup procedures?

Will you have a separate server as your TCAdmin master?

There is a lot more to it than just getting a control panel and a server, then a website. Game hosting isn't exactly an ideal market to break ground into unless you have the funding to stay in for the battle.

Yeah my target market is Counterstrike Source. I have created a business plan and have the funding. From what I understand clientexec covers billing AND support.

No one can "prevent charge backs", we all just plan for it. Backup is done through liquidweb. Only 1 server total to start out with.

Good idea, personally I would use WHMCS as it is easier to use, and TCadmin is a good choice for using a GCP. Good luck!

I'd take a look at your technical support structure. If you are expecting your clients to be happy with client exec ticket support you will be very suprised to find out this isn't web hosting. Game server clients expect instant support 24/7 for little to nothing. It is something they just expect now a days, so if you cant provide that you will have a lot of very upset kids.

I've done web hosting, I've one dedicated hosting, and I've done colocation hosting.

Game server hosting is another kettle of fish.

If you really want to do something, just picking TCAdmin and CE will make you like the other 3094882394823 game hosts.

I think you need to put a bit more thought beyond the scripts you use.

Best of luck.

TCAdmin and CE will not get you sales. Scripts should be the least of you're worries.
