I want to telnet to the dedicated server. How can I do it? Do I have to install some software for telnet. I am using Ensim control panel.
According to the Sys. Admin. I can do it with the primary IP but when I do it it says incorrect login. Please tell me how can I do it?

Go down in windows and click start then run and type in telnet. After that click ok. Then click connect at the top left of the telnet screen and then click on remote system. It will then open a screen that says host name and in here put your primary IP #.
Click connect after that. Once you have did this it will ask you for a username and a password. If you are getting incorrect login then the username or password must not be right. Make sure that you are typing them right.

I am doing exactly what you have said. But its not working. In username I wrote primary Ip for the server and in Password the password of the server. But its saying login incorrect my system administrator say
"I have sucessfully logged in to your server via telnet, please note you
must telnet into the primary IP address of the server.
That package is not part of our base install. This package can be
installed for a added charge by us. You can also install the package
yourself for no charge."
What does he means with this package. Is there somekind of package that should be installed on the server?????????
You may not have telnetd installed. Ask them if this is what they meant.

Don't use telnet, use ssh!
You're just asking to get 0wned if you do.

Not sure if you made a typo there, but the hostname is where you'd enter the IP address of your server (not username).
The username should be the same as the one you use to log into the Ensim Webppliance control panel.

doNot use telnet use SSH! instead, if you insist on using telnet you are as vulnerable as a baby in the jungle..so they say :) there are a good number of freeware ssh clients one of them is tera term pro or putty(putty wont work on win2k)
