Hi, guys

I want to host a forum, I suppose it may be pretty popular. Normally 20-30 person online all day long, sometimes even 100 people. I want to know how much traffic do I need? Anybody could give me an suggestion? Thanks in advacne.

traffic will depend on wat software you use, and how many people are posting/reading etc...

but if you are going to have more than 100 concurrent users, you may want to look at a vps solution

Thanks askshad, I will use VBB, normally one day have 200 new messages. And 5000 message will be read (plain one, without picture). By the way, what is "VPS solution"?

I think he means "Virtual Private Server" but I could be wrong, as I have been known to do that :)

Yes, a VPS solution is what I meant :)

My suggestion is try go with a shared host that allows for easy upgrades, try it out for a month and see if you need more

Base on your number, my suggestion is to have 12-15GB at the beginning. The number usually decline a lot or increase a lot after the first two months. So at tht time you might reconsider. (10 GB is good enough when you have 20-30 ppl online and they only read the newest messages. anywhere under 8 GB is pretty dangerous for a popular forum.)
