I think it's just that no one's surprised anymore.

I was a bit surprised when Adam (Dicker) took up that position. Anyway ...

This is the source of the allegation:

Adam is the owner of DNforum.com and is one of the domaining industry's largest portfolio holders. I can't see him giving that up for a GoDaddy title. The optics aren't good but I doubt he is using inside info when bidding. As nameslave said, it is surprising that he would take that GD position - it can lead to conflict of interest.

Meh. I've already struck GoDaddy off my registrar's list — this just gives me more reason not to use them. ^^

We stopped using GoDaddy for our domains a long time ago.

Official statement:

Official Go Daddy Statement - (from Go Daddy General Counsel Christine Jones):

"Go Daddy has reviewed the auction and found nothing improper.

Adam Dicker's knowledge on the auction was no different from what any customer coming to our TDNAM site would have had.

To ensure customer confidence and to avoid any possible future questions of impropriety all GD employees are now and in the future prohibited from participating in TDNAM auctions, purchasing, sales & back orders."

- Christine Jones, Go Daddy General Counsel & Corporate Secretary

My question is, why wouldn't they (GoDaddy) have thought about that IN ADVANCE?? Isn't that OBVIOUS that there WILL DEFINITELY BE conflict of interest in the first place? By allowing that (company affiliates engaging in *ANY* of their auctions OR EVEN SWEEPSTAKES), they are actually putting e.g. Adam (Dicker) here in a VERY vulnerable position.
