haha, that is hilarious. I dont know, but it just dident look very profesional to me. I dident realize so many companies use irc to talk to their customers. Also, they dont use phones? Whats up with that, how long does it take to call and say, hey, we're gonna unplug you for spam. I dont know, that just sounds sketchy, i am glad i dont haev an UN-MAnaged server, i like paying the extra money and getting friendly support. I use dialtone, and they call for eVERYTHING, any little problem, if i need help, to offer tips?

:D

Jeez, never mind phoning. How about an automated email system that notifies the user that his account is in jeopardy? I can't see how that would require any additional work on Rackshack's part beyond the initial coding.

well, you want 99.00 servers, you get 99.00 servers ;)

The least they could do is e-mail you that, such and such server was going to get pulled.

RackShack is a very different breed of host.

You have to use very simple and direct wording with most reps, accept the fact that they're never wrong, and understand half the time those comments made in TT's aren't intentionally meant to make you look bad - they're just quickly scrawled things off the top of a rep's head.

To operate with 99/mo servers RackShack needs to be quick, efficient, and generally cheap where cheap can be. I've dealt with CSR reps who have an IQ making grapefruits look smart (most of you guys are great though, CSR^George is the man!), but at the end of the day managed to learn enough RackShackese to ensure proper and quick communication from our techs to theirs.

Sorry to hear about your issue, there was an obvious mistake on RS's end. We've had wrong servers almost restored before so I know it's nothing new, but the resulting conversation was really unnecessary.

Sincerely,

-Matt

So basically people are saying for an extra hundy or so, a ded server host will:
- Email (or call) the customer with any problems/complaints.
- Only take action if none, or an inadequite response is received in 24 hours.
- Unplug the correct server.
- Respect the customer.
- Not call the customer names.

hmm, is it worth it?
I dunno.
Sometimes, I wish a company wouldn't even offer a product at all, if they aren't going to do it right.

Actually IMO I don't think they care what server you have with them in terms of support.

I've never understood why some people think low cost excuses poor service. Lack of features, certainly, but anytime I am giving my money to someone I expect good service.

of course it is, I dont' understand is why peopel expect that much from low cost providers

there is a reason of why they are "low cost", furthermore as long as I remeber rackshack never even try to brand themselves as great "support" providers, you have a problem they fix it by resettign your server .. that is how they manage to give you the prices they do.

if you want service go to a place where you will pay more, but also get the service you expect and pay for.

That is up to you to decide, if you runnign a business where you must provide a certain level of service and support, then you need that, others might not have the same needs.
