I'm having a complete and utter nightmare trying to get my nameservers changed with lycos, i've tried multiple free DNS solutions and everytime i try and change them I get one of the most useless and retarded messages possible:
The registrar returned an error. Please contact our support and report the following error code: 2

I've tried contacting support, I've tried support from different bits of their cobblepot organisation but it seems they don't like working or answering support tickets.
Is there anyway to bypass lycos and go to the real registrar? I am the rightful owner of a domain and have my name as the owner.
Or am I up poop-creek and at the whim of this cobblepot company? This is costing me hits, extended downtime and money... all because of a lousy company.

I've distributed hosts file entries, but this is the only thing that's messed everything up.

My questions:
Is there anyway to bypass this company? I can't believe they aren't going through another registrar, and would like this resolved as quickly as possible.
Is there an easy way of taking my domain off these cretins without extended periods of downtime?
Is there an official complaints board I can talk to?

Strange, what I would do is probably initiate a transfer from another registrar, assuming the lycos control panel is functional enough to give you an EPP code.
Unlock the domain first as well.

You don't need anything from support or the real registrar to transfer.

Unfortunately you have to contact support even for an EPP code :(

When I do a whois on my domain, these lycos cretins have their name all over it, but where it says registrar it says:
Registrar: KEY-SYSTEMS GMBH
Whois Server: whois.rrpproxy.net
Referral URL: http://www.key-systems.net

Are they the real providers of my domain?

How long have you had your domain with Lycos? Did you register it outright through them? or did they give you a free domain with one of their packages?

I registered my domain with them in 2003. It was a plain domain name registration, no hosting.

I've changed my nameservers several times in the 5 years. I had another domain with them, but could afford the downtime with that so migrated domain registration to ipowerweb. Took ages to pry an epp from their claws :(

I hate this, I've built up a VPS, got it running, locked my old forums and frontpage, migrated the data... all in the space of an hour or so, and then i went to change the blinking nameservers and got screwed over. Completely helpless at the hands of a company that doesn't seem to give a crap about its customers.

this is unbelievable, i've tried zoneedit, I've tried loads of free dns and i've tried my own and all of them give different errors.

I've run a zone check with tool:
http://zonecheck.denic.de/zonecheck/
which returned a success (with 6 warnings)

Anyone have any advice, i need the nameservers changing right away.
