There really is no best way to get traffic. PPC ads can be effective and inexpensive, and with AdWords you can spend as much or as little as you like. How you advertise should depend on what you are selling. Somethings are better sold locally, some require very targeted niche marketing, it really varies depending on your product/service and business model. But if you want real help you might want to seek out an expert or mentor.

Also, this thread probably should be in a different forum. I think this is more for questions about web hosting not ecommerce. The moderators will know where to put it but I would guess the ecommerce discussion forum.

with google adwords it says 'Daily budget' will that mean if i put $5 there it will use all of that or upto that amount ?

Yes, that is the maximum amount you will spend per day on ads. Then the CPC fields are the max you will spend per click. You can also select an amount per ad that you want to pay but not specify a max so AdWords will choose for you to increase exposure. I would suggest you set a max cpc on a low budget.

Also, as I said make sure to look into some other forms of advertising. There should be plenty of discussion about that in the ecomm forum and running a web hosting business forum.

Good luck. If Adwords doesn't work well, keep trying different methods of advertising.

Tom, marketing methods really depend on what kind of site you have, too. For instance, partnerships with other sites work great for free services, but not always for something that is paid. You've really got to determine who your target market is, and how they go about searching for merchants who sell what they're looking for. This may take a bit of time, but it will save you time and money in the long run, because you'll be marketing to the right people in the right way.

Hope that helps. :)

Partnerships with web designers and other service providers could work out well, if devised right. Hosting the right site for "free", in exchange for a small banner placed wisely, could be a win-win situation as well.

Google adsense, just place them in the right places, make a lot of money.

It's extremely difficult making any real money from adsense. Unless you have the big bucks for the right keywords, it's a hit or miss deal.

Don't be surprised if you get 0 impressions. Unless you're bidding on extremely longtail keywords, you won't show in the top 100 results. I think "web hosting" is $10-$15/click just to be in the top 10.

And for your daily budget question... You may end up spending slightly over your daily budget on a particular day, but you will never spend more than your daily budget times the number of days in the month, in a particular month. So for June there may be a couple days where your spend would be $2.20, but you entire spend for the month would not go over $60.

What is "too expensive"? What kind of site are you running? What is your current budget?

I do the old google ad-words but gotta keep eye on things its pay per click, also I search forums and pay like $5 for x amount of impressions. Also as said find ppl with site and make a deal to offer free hosting for a banner for your company.

$2 is probably not enough for a single click for web hosting sites...

Yep, adword costs for the term "webhosting" are really high, I'm not sure about the amount, but remember that its easier to make a million bucks, with a million bucks; than make a dollar, with just one dollar.

So invest wisely in advertising

ok maybe $1/day ?

came back with 5 - 8 ad clicks and 16 - 20 ad positions, think that would be ok?

I think the best way to get around would be to start locally, walking into some local businesses and offer them something they cannot refuse, make sure you can negotiate with them some deals, offer them something nobody else can do, and as always, at a good price!

I find that, if you are local to the businesses they tend to leap for you because they want to keep their business and resources close by.

That's just my 2 cents anyway :)

Local advertising for the win. I gave up on the internet advertising techniques because I was competing against someone that was $1/mo cheaper that I was. So, since then I changed my advertising to being nothing but local, and I've made a KILLING on that. Seeing people face to face and determining the price they can afford is worth it to me.

Agree'd - determining the prices with the client/business is the best part about it, and meeting them face-to-face is the other part.

In knowing the business has met you, and that you can reason with them for their exact needs will bring you on top of anybody else.
