Hi.

Some of you will have seen my other posts about EARHost.
The story is their control panel has now been down for 3 days saying invalid licence file, my customers are not happy about this and it doesn't exactly make my company look good.
We all know what Tim is like, he keeps saying " we are working on it" or at least he did, now he is ignoring me totally.
James just tells me 2 talk 2 Tim on AIM
Basically I know its going to be very difficult to get a refund from them if i manage that at all but how long should i put up with no control panel before i try and get a refund. It's been 3 days so far.

I would suggest you wait for another 2 days. There may be some genuine problems out there. Otherwise you can take some harsh steps.

If your Cpanel is down after 3 days it means someone did not pay the bill. Now the question you have to ask yourself is do you want to stake your business on a company that cannot or will not pay it's bills and refuses to give you a straight answer?

If you do then keep on truckin if not get a refund and another host ASAP.

If I was you I would move right away. Just my 2 cents.

Learn from his past experience and the Cyberwings fiasco. These guys keep you strung along until there is no more they can get.

Run away ... now. Accept the short term painj for the long term gain.

Voxtreme and MCHost are two very solid reseller companies. Both have dedicated support staff and active communities. Both have excellent business references on this forum.

.. if 'working on it' is the only answer you can get three days in a row.. it is a blow off reply IMO.

If I was you and I knew about Timmys past with Cpanel I would have been gone by now.. You are going to start loosing customers if you have not already.. I would backup your stuff ASAP and start looking around.. I mean think about it.. Think about the past 1000 timmy threads even say if it did get fixed how long is it going to be until it happens again? James seems to be a nice guy but I think he picked the wrong person to partner up with and I would hope he would get the big picture and dump Timmy asap before the biz goes down the drain.

If I understand correctly, EARhost is a shared 50/50 (James/Timmy) operation. It seems James owns another company, that would make web hosting a “PART-TIME” job and we all know about Timmy. If I were you, I would deal with a company that has full-time trained staff on. Avoid companies with kids (as staff or owners) as you can now see why. Wait another few days, if no refund (and if you paid via CC) charge it back. But for sure, ask for a refund now.

But then, I could be wrong. :stickout

Avoid companies with kids

I think good advice is to avoid companies run by people who comport themselves like children, whether they be adult or child.

I'm sure there are a few kids out there who comport themselves like adults. I wouldn't know if I ran into them on the internet, simply because they acted grown up.

If you can tell they're kids... run.

(EDIT) I forgot to mention that I've had Timmy try to get my business before. He definitely acted like a child. He didn't get my business.

Well personally, I would run far away and fast. If your control panel is down for over 3 days and your provider cannot pay the money to get another license then you are in serious trouble. And since you are a reseller this will look even worse to your clients, my suggestion would be to go find another host immediately. Is your email on the server down as well? James's and little_Timmy's actions have been well documented throughout this board.

<wanted to add something>

And if they are ignoring you doesn't that say something about their company? Don't you find it odd that James is pawning you off to Tim, instead of doing the only logical thing in this catastrophe which is to fix the problem? What will happen when you have more clients on the server and another problem pops up, that is what you should be worrying about? In any event run away fast.

<end of adding something>
