Hi All,

Recently, I started a company that does "enterprise level solutions" - which ranges from dedicated servers to application development. It's off to an OK start, but as you all know starting a business takes a lot of time and patience.

I've been working on my website and have come to the conclusion that I really need (soon) an accounting/billing system - a system that basically allows me to invoice customers, track their charges/credits, and also has an extensive system that lets me write my own modules (so if I want to write a module that lets a customer reboot their server, for instance, it's easy to do so).

Looking around, I think I've decided I'm just going to write my own from scratch. But I really wouldn't mind asking all of you first whether or not anyone can recommend anything.

Anyone's advice is appreciated!

ClientExec 3.1.2 is really good.. I like it very much.. BUT!!! I also suggest WHMCS <- very good as well.. good luck and best wishes !!!!

I would also suggest WHMCS (http://www.whmcs.com). Along side easy management of clients; charges and credits, plus its simple interface, its also very easy to create your own modules and install them. They have an online demo available at their website (whmcs.com (http://www.whmcs.com)) which you might want to try out.

Some other billing softwares: Clientexec, phpCOIN, AWBS, WHMAutoPilot, APlusBill, PHPInvoice... You can choose one by trying the demos.

The problem with Ubersmith for your situation is unless you have a lot of capital the Datacenter Edition (which is the only version they are really actively developing) is too expensive. Ubersmith Pro is definitely a powerful billing system, and has the potential to be one of the top systems out there, except they don't develop it. Ubersmith Lite is definitely not for you, it's way too limited feature-wise.

I would suggest using WHMCS until you find the need to upgrade to something more powerful. WHMCS is a very good all around solution, offering billing, support, domain, and now even SSL management. And, as was said earlier, you can write your own plugins or create custom fields in a variety of different ways if you need to store more customer information.

WHMCS first then iHost.

I would recommend WHMCS or ClientEXEC; both are fantastic software. It's just up to your liking though.
