I was reading on the forums that people are tired of getting ripped off when their $5 a month server shuts down and goes out of business.

For the last year I have run 7 websites on Tera-Byte.com. I have had excellent service and support from them. Let me tell you, I have been answered satisfactorily on every support request (by email and phone). Too bad I outgrew them and had to leave.

What you get for $9.25 a month is pretty darned good:
200M HD
20 G b/w
sql, php, cgi......

I decided to use them because they claim to be Canada's largest hosting company and have been around since 1997.

Low cost? Yes
Reliable? Absolutely
Responsive? 24/7 Someone was always there to help me out.

I am not affiliated with them, nor do I get anything for referring people to them. I just want to share with all of you, if you are looking for a great, reliable, inexpensive host, check these guys out. It's worth your time and money.

I also have an account with tera-byte.com for close to a year now. At first, I was hoping to get a hosting provider based in the States, but as my website grew, my previous US-based hosting providers charged a lot for upgrades and addons.

The best thing I like about tera-byte is that their hosting specs are attractive enough for a big site. It's the 20GB/month transfer that made me go with them.

I haven't had any problems with them since then.

i had a raq3 with them and they often charged too much for bandwidth and faked the stats.

also they charged me 1000 $ instead of 100 $ one month...

forget them... they are rip offs.

And you didn't get a refund...?

We receive our statement in advance of the charges being applied I believe...I could be wrong but I'm almost sure we do. They're a top notch provider IMO. When they increased their bandwidth and dropped their prices they didn't drop ours enough because they were under the impression we hosted adult content on them. Not the case, and the error was fixed within a few days.

Sorry to hear your experience wasn't as pleasant though.

the part he didnt mention was he was actually removed from the network for the 129 unresolved spam complaints on his domain that he claimed were taken care of

We are in the exact same issue with Tera-BITES and even with a Raq server. We had a $129 (or so) per month server through them and cancelled. A couple days after cancelling Steve sends us a $700 overage bill.

We have made several requests directly to Steve, the CEO for some sort of hard evidence to this claim and although he says he does have the proof, will not produce it for us.

I cannot recommend this outfit to anyone.

I have had an account with tera-byte since 1999, and they have always been great. Unforunately, I too am out growing them, and I can't really find a better one with the features I need for that price. In fact, I hope to find one as good with the features I need for only twice the price.

Oh, and if I went over my transfer limit, then cancelled, I would expect a bill for overages. Cancelling doesn't mean you don't have to pay for what you used.

I have been dealing with TB / 4WS since January 2000 on both shared and dedicated hosting they offer.

Never once have I been charged unjustly, never once has there been any discrepencies, any issues that have arisen were dealt with in short order by Keeg or members of his staff.

I get no kick backs from saying this, nor am I in any way affiliated with TB / 4WS.

Oh and from what I can gather from recent and past visits to the TB / 4WS web sites there is nothing that they charge an even $100.00 for monthly.

I had a raq3 with them for about 2 years. When I decided to move, they treated me like dirt. I felt like I was talking to a machine.

If any one wants true service they should try Futurequest. they are simply amazing.
