I am planning to enter into the reseller business and I am gathering information. My question is about domains.

1. Is it necessary to have a domain reseller package from a host you get your hosting package?
2. If it isnt, then how do you integrate the two?
3. If I want to offer a free domain with each package, how do I manage that? Technically as well as how do I pay for it to the domain company. (since the hosting is already sold but the domains arent).

1. Not necessary. Find a company that has cheap domains but solid service.

2. Nothing to integrate. You will use this domain reseller to register domains. Will you use a billing system like WHMCS? You will have to enter the appropriate info (username, password, prices etc) and the software will handle all the rest.

3. Automatic or manual? See above for answer. Most domain reseller packages require you to have funds in your account, so each time you register a domain the fees are taken from the funds.

Just to expand on this. If you receive a domain reseller from your provider, chances are it will integrate into the billing system they provide as well (assuming a billing system is provided - a lot of providers do offer it)..

If the billing system is WHMCS, then there is an option to provide a free domain name with a package. You can thus have this configured so when a new package is purchased, the domain is registered too (integrate the domain reseller with WHMCS). This will automate the process much more and save you from having to manually register each domain name :agree:

Most companies provide domain reseller program with a reseller hosting, too. You can provide free domain with hosting to your customers by setting your billing/ordering software.
