I know someone who presently has a dedicated server with ***** (ugh!). She is new to server management and has had problems she doesn't know how to fix. I suggested she look here for a better replacement though she doesn't think she would be able to match their deal. Here's what she said to me:

Actually, I haven't found anyone else willing to lease me a server (or let me put up 8 domains) for $99/month while they still provide support, also allowing me to run whatever software I like. I've been with ***** through some of the bad times and am prepared to move if they ever get really bad, but over the last year and a half they've served me very well. However I do appreciate your offer of insight and referal to a board where people talk about these things.
I know some Cobalt RAQs are often available at this rate. Are there any others, like Intel servers?

If so, please post here and I will refer her to this discussion.

FYI (and not that it matters much), I know her server has Red Hat 5.x

I have a Cobalt RaQ3 that I probably could put them into... How much bandwidth will be required?

Yeah, we do... I apologize if I overlooked yours, I'm absolutely swamped. I've got a new guy coming on to help me with sales this week.

Sorry to take the thread off subject, but as you are obviously online "jkehe" (responding on this forum) why are you not responding on ICQ. It says you are online but you are not answering my messages. Either answer them or answer my email.

Globaltap.com offers dedicated servers (not RAQs) starting at $62 a month. Not sure if the info is on their website - but you can contact the owner steve@globaltap.com

We've been with them for a long while and support/speed/etc has always been amazing.

you mean $62.50 for colocation? Can't see anything for dedicated server.... Bandwith price OK (not really great) at $4/GB...

cheers,

You have to email the owner steve@globaltap.com - but I'm almost positive it's a dedicated server package. Granted, its a starter package - but, from what I gathered from the original post, that may be all she needs.

You can get a dedicated linux-based server for $99 at actusa.net - I know because I work there!

Why are you replying to a post that is almost 3 years old? I'm pretty sure the original poster has found a solution by now.

Shortly after that post, everything went downhill with them...and prompted me to build our own datacenter. Having control over everything makes me sleep much better at night. :D
