I have not worked with hostcharge. You can contact clickbank.com
They are reasonable.

Well you should check out Charge.com because they have one of the lowest fees i have seen. I've checked many merchant services, even banks, and these guys have really low rates. I will be opening an account with them in a couple days. If anyone has found any better places, please list them here.

MadPinger:

There are MUCH better rates out there. so you should qualify for the $100 for finding a better deal.

I do not want to go with paypal because i have heard too many bad things about them. http://paypalsucks.com I have not found any better places because those other low priced solutions require you to purchase their software that runs in the hundreds of dollars.

Revecom.com still has a higher percentage than charge.com. Wells fargo has pretty decent percentages but there is a heafty startup fee and monthly fee.

I guess it's had to understand things when there is too much information for some people. Let me try to help you understand this by simplifying it:

Since most of us are online businesses i will only include pertinent information

Service Charge.Com*
Application Fee $0
Checks by Web, Phone, and Fax: $0
Web Shopping Cart $0
Programming Charge $0
Shipping and Handling Charge$0
American Express Draft Capture Setup Fee $0
Technical Support Hours 24 hours per day 7 days per week
Credit Restrictions Not An Issue
Internet / Mail / Phone Order Discount Rate 2.35%
Internet / Mail / Phone Order Transaction Fee 30 cents per Transaction
Statement Fee $10.00 per month
Real-Time with Virtual Terminal Purchase $195
Real-Time with Virtual Terminal Lease $49.95 per month 8 month lease
Real-Time with Virtual Terminal Gateway Fee $15 per month
Lease Options Lease to Own with Buy-Out Option; Transferable to Others

Please note that there is $0 setup/application fee and there is an option to either buy the virtual terminal, lease it, or pay monthly for it (the gateway fee). Since most people will probably pay monthly for it, the total monthly payments they would be making is $10 statement fee + $15 gateway = $25.

You do not have to pay for the software fee or other terminals because the majority of our payments are coming from the web and not by mail or in person.

If you look at it, this comes out cheaper then most of the ones from that site you mentioned, especially.... well you know what i mean.:D

charge.com site is messed up. It has a javascript error on the first page and just for the heck of it, I hand typed in the address of the page that appeared when I moused over the non working links. No where does it have a clear statement on fees, and I bet there is more to it than just a gateway and statement fee.
Usually, if there is no app fee, they require you to buy or lease software, exquipment, or both. Then there are companies with huge app fees, that do not require you to buy or lease software, exquipment, or both.
In other words, there is a whole lot of scamming going on.

Geografx, seeing as how you have posted twice for people tocheck http://www.merchantworkz.com/ for merchant comparisons
Here is what your website says about third party merchants, which both 2checkckout and hostcharge are, and what the poster was asking about in the first place.
Third party providers allow you to accept credit cards without a merchant account. Instead, your transactions are processed through the third party providers' own merchant accounts. The discount rate they charge for each transaction is higher than the discount rate charged by most other merchant account providers. However, this is usually the only fee you'll pay.

Third party providers take care of the entire purchasing process, as well as relevant back end processes, themselves. This includes the shopping cart, credit card authorization, customer service, and tracking sales and totals. Instead of installing and integrating e-commerce components yourself, you link to the third party provider's own server.

This solution works especially well for low volume merchants who can't pay the numerous fees usually required to obtain their own merchant accounts and get set up with a traditional merchant account provider.
No Third Party Providers available at this time.

Seeing as how you posted this irrelevant "suggestion" twice now, this could in fact be called spam, since you have nothing to offer people looking at merchants such as 2checkckout and hostcharge.
So much for every ones help.
Why don't real people post what they know about which services they use, and what it will cost.

my appologies ATST-

if i had thought this thread was specifically regarding third party merchant accounts i would have posted this link http://www.hostingviews.com/article.php?sid=11 which provides a brief review of some of the third party processors.

I like merchantworkz as it allows you to comparison shop for a merchant account that would best fit your specific needs. And no i'm not affiliated with it - i just thought it was a good resource and could save people some time.

I've had to shop for merchant accounts before and gotten burned by some (does anyone remember ccslide??) and have had clients get merchant accounts for ecommerce sites that don't allow online transactions or have proprietary shopping carts that won't meet my clients needs.

That's funny ATST, the site seems to be working fine for me. And as far as finding a clear statement on fees, are you blind? It has the fees broken down so even dumb joe's can understand. Also, i emailed them and they told me the fees as i have stated earlier in my posts. I guess it's time for web browsing school.
