What kind of advice are you looking for? Any particular topic? Web hosting is broad subject..

Well, having had an InnoHosting Resellers Account before, I feel that you will be very happy there. InnoHosting have a Resellers Start Up Guide that helps you get going. If you need to learn how to use cPanel and WHM, you can jump on there website and view the manual.

InnoHosting also offer you all the programs that you need to start a web hosting company. Until you get a little bigger, there is nothing more that you need that InnoHosting don't offer you...

Hi zombie0hour,

These forums are an excellent resource. Read through the latest threads and browse through the archives. That will teach you a lot right there.

In terms of specific advice: Customers are king. Treat them well.

Good luck in your new venture!

The best piece of advice I can give you is to pick a target market; don't try to sell to everyone.

Make sure you've carefully planned what you intend to do before you jump in and start up.
There are plenty of great tutorials in the subforum here that are worth a read.

The worst thing you can do is start a company with no real idea of where it is headed, what your target market is, how you're going to advertise and how you're going to support your future customers.

As mean as this sounds, there are two types of customers: Those who know, and those who don't. You need to figure out which one you want to gear towards. Do you want to gear towards the tech savvy geek who knows how to build his own site, set up his own forum, and get everything working on his own, or do you want to gear towards your every day John Doe, who would like a website, or a server, but doesn't know a thing about it.

Personally, if you have the time, gear towards those who are less tech savvy, as there are an abundance of them to get you started.

...and, you can charge more to less tech-savvy customers, giving you higher margins. :)

Do you have your business plan already? Because it sounds like you're asking for advice now, when you're already considering yourself in 'the business' and getting a reseller account. That's a bit like putting the cart before the horse.
