Hi,
I have planned to buy a Dual Processor Computer for my Desktop use for some reason. I just wanted to know which OS will detect and my Dual Processor and RAID motherboard as well?
Win98
WinME
Win2000 Pro
Win2000 Advanced Server
WinXP
Which one?

Skip Win 98 and Win ME. The rest should be able to take advantage of your Dual Processor.
Win 2000 or NT 4 are server-class operating system which do your board justice.

you probably want to use advanced server, it comes standard with multi-processor support..
unless you want to go the hardcore linux SMP for some really good linux quake, you're best bet is win2k server platforms

How about WinXP?
Will it run faster, better than Win2000 Advanced Server?
Hy,
i would recommend Win2K Professionell. Win2K Pro offers support for up to two processors and raid should be no problem too because you are using hardware raid :). It runs stable and without any problems.
As long as you don't need any windows server features you do not need an advanced server or normal server.
Don't no much about XP, but the small things i know i would use 2K ;)

Windows 2000 is the best option

For Desktop use I would go with XP Pro. It'll support the dual processors and it has much better support for new peripherals and games and other "desktop" type stuff. Just make sure it's the Pro version. The Home version doesn't support SMP.
