Guys, I wish to accept money orders for my site.

Is there any third party company handling money orders or checks? I'm a newbie in these things as such any advice is most appreciated.

Why do you need a third party? Just deposit them in your bank.

I agree with WeinBar, why do you need a third party?

In most cases you can just deposit them into your business bank account. You don't need anything special account wise. Just sign em n deposit them.

Checks work the same way. Only concern you may have is forged (for both) or bounces (checks). If you have a merchant account with your bank (ie credit cards) you may be able to add in check verification for a nominal (sometimes free) fee.

Ask you bank. They may be able to point you in directions you didn't know were available to you.

Maybe he's looking for an instant verification type of thing. I know there are online check systems that do that, but I can't think of any for money orders.

You *could* set people up straight away and wait for the money order/check to arrive and get cashed but expect a lot of bad people once it gets out you do that.

Not everyone has a creditcard and in some countries appealing to CC owners only is a serious minority but the sad fact remains that some people don't wish to pay for the hard work others put in. It's them that ruin it for the others.

It wouldn't be so bad if the money order thing is for more local customers. Anything more than a few days by mail and it starts to get slow. You could shorten that by offering check and money order through a phone number (non-toll free) By default that will reduce the distance people will be from you.

Just a suggestion :)

I suppose someone could try to counterfit an MO but that's rare.

If you really need a service for it take a look at BidPay (http://www.bidpay.com)

They're intended for paying auctions but you could use it for anything. The buyer (hosting user in this case) gives their credit card and BidPay sends you the seller (the host) a Western Union MO. I've gotten some from buyers on my Ebay auctions so it does work. And Western Union is very reliable.

The down side is BidPay charges the customer $5 transaction cost per MO.
