I have one domain name which registered on 1PlanHost before,
expired recently since 5/23/2008 and is pending renewal status.

Can I transfer to a new registrar? Its mail system just send me a notice mail everyday to charge $99 but nobody reply my inquiry mail. How can I trust it even I provide my credit card information ?

My host name will be locked by 1PlanHost for 1 year if I don't pay $99 to 1PlanHost ?

Hope somebody can help me, thanks.

Regards,
Peter88

I have no way to transfer my expired domain name to a new registrar now except for the expense of $99 first ?
I've mail so many e-mails to the billing and register account, but no reply at all. I really doubt whether this company is still in operation ?

Can't you log on its control panel and renew it?

If you let it expire, the domain is not yours anymore and registrar can do anything it wants with the domain. You will have to pay the redemption fee to get it back, before the registrar takes it forever for parking purposes or sell it to anybody else.

No way you can transfer out a domain that is currently not yours, even more with the purpose of getting away of redemption fee and renew for the normal price :p

Hi Hikari,
Thanks for comments. But according to ICANN "FAQ for Domain-Name Holders" below, is it a conflict ? If I can find a new registrar soon, supposedly I should be able to get my domain back. I know maybe it won't work in reality. :(

Q: My domain name has just expired. Can my registrar require me to pay for a renewal before I can transfer to a new registrar?

A: No. Your new registrar of choice can initiate a transfer request on an expired domain name once they receive the required authorization from you. Expiration or nonrenewal of a domain name is not a valid reason for denial of a transfer request.

Note that if the registrar has already begun the deletion process on the domain name and its status shows it to be within a 30-day Redemption Grace Period, the name must be .restored. by your current registrar before it can be transferred.
