We are not a low cost / low end web site design firm.

I am sure some of the more established companies would be willing to pay more for a higher level of work and service.

Maybe so...but not $ 1000 for a logo!!

We pay a lot more than most round here for any work we need done....but nobody in their right mindset would pay $ 1000 for a logo.....lol....

Maybe you wouldn't pay that much, and maybe you don't know anybody who would... but well designed logos are hard to find nowadays. Of course on this board all you usually see is the too frequent "10 bucks a (crappy) logo" offer.

The only reason you think it's too much is because the industry is being constantly hurt by people who ask for too little (and most of the time don't know what they're doing).
So anyway... if they do a really good job, 1000$ is reasonable. Consider the logo as part of your branding. Have a look at Oracle, Computer Associates, Pentium... their logo sticks with me.

Lazarus,

i know the value of a service....i'm not one to expect a design and logo with full flash intro for $20 !

Lazarus

Allright, then why did you post that nobody would pay 1000$ for a logo? I'm sure there's a market for upscale logos; and if they give unlimited revisions, it could take up to 20 hours of work to make the perfect logo... @50$ an hour that's pretty good.
Anyway, this is getting off topic. Sorry for hijacking the thread modi.

THANK YOU Lazarus

We are a real place of business not a design shop ran from somebody’s home. Logos come with several rounds of revisions and other perks that you don’t get with all of these $25 logo places.

Another thing I have noticed is that all of these other guys’ sites are made in flash. I bet these guys cost more per hour then we do.

This has ALWAYS been our motto

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

Do you think dot5hosting paid $300 for his site like most of the people on this board would think?

The WHOLE problem is the same with web hosting services.
Every 'company' is going lower and lower and lower forcing the other companies to go lower; and plus its too overcrowded with rinky dink web design firms. So people have come to believe that $400 is the max you would pay for a web site. People don’t realize how much work and time it takes to develop a quality web site.

You'd be surprised. My firm works at a $3,000 minimum when it comes to logo design and have no problems finding work on a regular basis. I'm invoicing a client tomorrow for $3,100 for a rather simple logo that went through limited revisions. Different agencies command different positions in pricing based on not only their quality in work but their dedication & committment in building client trust as well. You don't find such desire in a lot of garage shops.

I'd be really interested in seeing this $3100 logo..

Do you guys pump NO2 into your conference room when you're quoting these clients out??

Jeff Rambo

Sure, shoot me an e-mail and I'll reply with it. Posting it for public display isn't an option until it's online in our portfolio.

Edit: And no on the NOS but I might have to take that into consideration. We deal strictly with medium to large size businesses who have the budget to meet our pricing. In return we offer top quality in services and pair it with customer service and relationship management that we like to believe cannot be matched. I'll be the first to admit our design quality might not be the best, but that isn't what matters when it comes to securing new engagements.

Thats understandable about not showing it in public.. I'm just sure that everyone here would be interested in seeing what a $3100 logo looks like :)

I'm replying now. Like I said, it's a rather simple logo. I'm sending you the mock of what the client wanted and 1 or 2 versions off of the final product. Normally I'd have no problem displaying the work in public, but I currently have several NDAs open as I'm breaking away from my partnership and opening up my own shop. So our portfolio is currently being faught over.
