I am thinking of getting the Treo 700wx as my next business phone - can people who have experience using it please give me their thoughts on it?

Jay H 06-08-2008, 08:45 PM I have one and it gets the job done. If you make a lot of phone calls it can get annoying at times having to access the phone menu as designed. Some people say the 700wx is heavy, but honestly, it's been a similar weight to all of the others I've carried. It's by far been better than my previous data phones and I would have no problem recommending it to you. I'm not going to be keeping mine much longer, as I'd rather be able to play with an iPhone. However, my 700wx and Bubble Breaker have kept me out of boredom in a multitude of situations. :D edgemedia 06-08-2008, 10:49 PM I recommend the BlackBerry Pearl. Much smaller with alot of the same functionality. I've been using it myself for a few months now, recharges in 1.5hours and is good for a couple days of heavy use. Plus I have maps and directions, which I find useful sometimes. Can look up restuarant phone numbers or what not on the phone. Very handy. keliix06 06-08-2008, 11:08 PM I had a Windows Mobile phone and hated it. I have the Treo 755p and I'm quite happy with it. Better than just having maps, the Google Maps app that comes with it loads real time traffic data when you're in a metropolitan area, one of the coolest things I've had on a phone. ayksolutions 06-08-2008, 11:33 PM I have the 700wx and it works just fine. You will come to love the stylus over the BB's navball in the middle as well. I recommend it. fowen 06-09-2008, 11:53 AM I used the 700wx about a year ago and overall it is a solid device. I got the first Windows Mobile Smartphone (MPx200) when it was released back on AT&T and I haven't been able to go back to a regular phone since. I am currently using the HTC Touch and love it. I have all my emails pushed to the device using Seven Consumer Edition (Pushed Gmail, Hotmail, POP3, IMAP, Exhcnage) and I am not sure what I would do without it. If you are on Sprint I would wait a month or so before getting the 700wx. The 800w is supposed to be coming out in the next 30 - 60 days and with the feature set it looks like it will be a nice upgrade. I saw that, but unfortunately I am on Verizon and do not wish to switch. I was trying to find out when the 800w is coming out on Verizon, but no luck :( the_pm 06-09-2008, 03:38 PM When I switched to Verizon, you could only get the 700p, and thus far I have very mixed feelings about it. It has a bad tendency to lock up at inconvenient times. Sometimes it's refused to drop a phone connection for up to a minute, or it will freeze on its current screen for a long period of time. If you touch the screen during that time, it will run everything you touched once it unfreezes. I've made more than a few accidental phone calls this way. It's also prone to rebooting when it gets too much stress on it. When everything is working properly, it's a really nice phone! But on the occasion something goes wrong (maybe 1-2 incidents per week or so) it's really a hassle. If they've fixed all these problems in the wx, by all means get one! But if you're seeing similar reports from others, you may want to think long and hard about buying a Treo. |
