How do you advertise / promote your services?

As per your question, we mostly promote our business at Web Hosting Directories, such as HostPulse, WebHostDir, FindMyHosting and etc... They are the good once which will drive a high quality traffic to your web site. Most of their visitors has got their valet opened, Ready to purchase.

Please note that not everybody is in need of your service, so you cannot simply advertise everywhere ( of course you can, very low results ). So you have to advertise somewhere which drives targeted traffic to your web site.

I personally can advise you to list your hosting services at the following directories, and if you can afford some budget, advertise in their showcases or other type of advertising methods.

Also make sure you will track where you have submitted your hosting services. So you can update the information of your packages/plans and you would update them so often, and it will always kept up-to-date.

list of your packages that was submitted there.

if you consider going for paid advertising with directories I suggest, first, you get your web site well designed and fine tune your package for 3-4 months and test it what people purchase from you.

Also go for branding, advertise on all / many web hosting directories at same time in same showcase because people roam around between directories to search for different providers to get the best deal.

Define your target and stick to it.

Having good banner is also important so do spend some good bucks on banner designers.

Also list your web site in yahoo directory and do target your local market through yellow pages and news paper classifieds.

Before doing all that be ready for long term jihad on providing very good customer support because you have to spend $100 to get $50 business (believe me) rest amount you can recover if your customers stay for longer period and recommended other people to your service.

Make it your long term goal and do not think you will get lots of customers by putting banners on directories.

Remember advertising is deferred revenue expenditure and will give you benefit in long term.

I gain 1000's of customers like this, gaining customer is very costly but if you maintain proper service and relationship they will recommended you and make you rich.

Yes, best advertising is through word of mouth. Although I have seen many companies advertise through sponsorships and stuff.

You can consider sponsoring a growing forum or something that will attract a good amount of traffic related to your target audience.

Definately word of mouth. Maybe advertise here and in some directories initially, but once you have a group of users who are happy with their service you'll be surprised how quickly you will grow simply from their referrals.

Search engines are best and less expensive.

It's boring.

Also offering an internal referral program helps heaps. Gives your existing clients a reason(other than the good service you run) to get other clients signing up
