Look at their number 1 host in the rating system and do a traceroute. Lol... Real independant hosting ratings...
I bet if your a reseller on the hostrocket servers, you might make it to the top 10.
Aussie Bob 08-26-2002, 01:02 AM Yeah, I think Umbillycord pointed out that this was their venture. I can't remember where the thread was, but I remember that site. :D
NewMerchant 08-26-2002, 01:04 AM What a waste of a perfectly good pixelbrick site. If it were me, I would do the advertisement income from it, but I would be getting that rating system as far away from my business as possible. Fast like. The problem with it is, the only advertisement you'll likely get is if you are truly independant. This would require a server in a datacenter. Not a server within a hosting company. Never work. Kind of sad actually. Maybe the business strategy could be re-thought out. There would be a way to make it work if you could truly rate hosting companies based on your experiences with them. But only if your were serious about it.
Better yet, just cut a deal with hostrocket for the wonderful advertisement.
cyansmoker 08-26-2002, 03:34 AM "best hosting i\'ve ever had in 15 years"
Wow...
Synthetic 08-26-2002, 03:41 AM I think in the previous discussion we came to the conclusion that they were still in the progress of finishing up the site.
Maybe you haven't noticed, but the registration/login features are currently disabled. They aren't fully completed.
I do think they should've informed us somewhere on the site, then there'd be less confusion over this.

Get everything working... and then get a server at a datacenter to where you can do non-biased reviews. Unfortunatley though, it's real hard to believe this is what they are trying to achieve when hostrocket has made number one host while they are hosted there. No one in their right mind would take them seriously. Site done or not, Id'e shut it down until I could get on a server and prove a non-biased review. Why ruin a good idea and name before the site is even finished if what you say is correct? We need another real good hosting review business. I like their site and their ideas. But I couldn't take something like this serious after just seeing it one time.
Synthetic 08-26-2002, 04:19 AM Considering that Ceonex/PixelBrick developed the site, maybe all the reviews/ratings were compilied by them?
That's just one of my speculations. I'm sure Brendan can clarify this issue.
NewMerchant 08-26-2002, 04:27 AM Now that might be. It would sure make more sense. I mean, maybe what they have displayed is something that was just designed to get the layout correct being it's mentioned above that the design wasn't finished.
Either way though, they should take it down before they ruin their ideas and business goals. Wait till they get it on a server in a datacenter. You cannot be hosted on any hosting companies servers and run a business like that. Then essentially you are saying "hey, I'm hosted here but it's not the best" or "I'm hosted here and they are the best".
If they are serious, they will pick the closest datacenter and park a server.
HRBrendan 08-26-2002, 11:48 PM Hi,
Just as clarification, the site is about 3/4 done right now, we have filler content in place for things that we needed it for like reviews etc. I dont wanna make up reviews about other hosts and I dont wanna write bad ones about myself for no reason so obviously we just put in stupid little comments that pretty obviously hold no water to fill the space. As for the top ten ratings we just filled it up with hosts that came to mind, the first one being ourselves again for other obvious reasons. We need the content there because we are working on starting to generate traffic for the site as that is a long and tedious process, however that is not the content that will be there upon the final launch of the site.
