I will never buy anything from namecheap.com again.

Last time I needed to renew my SSL cert, I made a mistake and had to start a new one (it was my first time doing it on my own, so instead of "renewing" it, I let the old expire and just purchased a brand new one.. 1st try with this I made a mistake)
I scrapped that one and tried again, got the second without problems, so I requested a refund for the first (it was never used)

Not only were my emails ignored, but support tickets as well.
Still, to this day, I've not gotten a refund.

$14! and they are too busy to respond to an email or support ticket over it. Suppose they don't want to break their bank with that massively huge refund and all.

I have a friend called Vova F. that helps me with namecheap supporting. I speak with her in namecheap's chat, she is very useful. So, i made a mistake with my SSL too and i'm still waiting an response from my ticket that i sent to SSL technical support.

The only thing that Vova F. can't do is money refund or something like that and she told me that if in seven days you have any issue with SSL, they will make a money refund.

Let me see if technical support will get me back an answear.

Leandro F.

Yup.. I requested my refund within an hour of messing my 1st cert up, well within any limit. They were provided with the invoice #, etc.. yet still chose to completely ignore me. I wish you nothing but luck with getting a refund through them!

I also forgot to mention I also contacted RapidSSL, who informed me they can only cancel the purchase once namecheap said it was OK.. well, guess they never did that.
RapidSSL on the other hand, were very prompt and professional via email, I had no trouble getting in touch with them. I'd buy an SSL directly from them - but not through namecheap again.

Hello! So, 12 hours later i get an answear from namecheap. And they just say to send an e-mail to support@comodo.com and ask for license reissue.

Now my license is working, COMODO support ticket answear tickets in 7 minutes. Great.

Everything is ok now, i hope that you have more lucky with namecheap in the next try.

Have a nice day guys.

Regards,
Leandro F.

I have 4 of these from my recent domain renewal/registration spree, but unfortunately, I have no use for them just yet.. so they're just sitting in my account.. any idea if they expire in 1 year, or if the 1 year only kicks in once it's activated?

Good question. I don't know, maybe you have 1 year after activate.

I will ask to the live chat reps.

I've used a couple of the free SSL's and it looks like they are valid 1 year from activation.
Like some here have said I've had problems with namecheap support being very slow. I've had some reissues of my SSL's and comodo have been amazing but when I've spoken to namecheap to ask them to forward my reissued SSL to me they took ages, one even took a couple of days to get to me.

Hello,

I would like first of all to apologize for any inconvenience this issue caused. Would you please provide me with the ticket ID you have submitted with us so I could further look into it and we will try to do something for you.

Thanks,

Hello,

One year only starts when you basically activate the certificate. However, if we are talking about our free PositiveSSL - there's one condition - you should activate the certificate by the end of 2008.

Kind regards,

Thanks for the information.

So technically, I can leave my free SSL's that I got when I renewed my domains until December 31st, 2008, and activate them then for a year of SSL service?

Reason I ask is I have no immediate need for it, but I may think of something by then.

Thanks!

This is absolutely correct :) Please feel free to ask in case of any further questions or concerns.

I have the same problems with regards to getting a refund from NameCheap.

Also messed up a SSL trying to do it myself the first time.
I contacted them the first hour only to be told I have to contact RapilSSL.
Eventually I got it cancelled by RapidSSL and NameCheap support then said I should submit the relpy from RapidSSL in a ticket and asked for a refund.

A couple of days later and no refund I started enquiring and was told they can not refund until the reseller, ENOM, refunded them.

Today I was told to contact Geotrust and ask for the refund status.
Come on people!!! It is cancelled by Geotrust. I did not use the SSL and never will be able to use it.

What is happening here? I am not interested in dealing with ENOM or Geotrust!!! I bought the SSL from NameCheap and expect them to sort out my problems.

Will I use NameCheap again? NEVER!!!

Since 2 Sept I asked for the contact detail of someone at NameCheap that can help me. I am simply being ignored.
Anyone on this board that have contact details for some senior person at NameChaep?

I can guarantee that one of the two senior people will respond to this thread if my name and namecheap is put together. They monitor the boards to come in and trash me if I post in a thread mentioning them. All because I too will never have anything to do with namecheap again.

Anyway, the ones you want are Richard Kirkendall (enetwork here) or Matt Russell (mdrussell here). You can look up their usernames in the member list and send them a PM.

And it's funny they are still an Enom reseller, since they plaster the fact they are ICANN registrars all over their page. One would expect, from seeing that, that you would be dealing with them, and not enom. But that's not the case at all, is it?

(Watch for one of the two to come in here now...the above line guarantees it). :D

Thanks Sue.
I am sorted with a SSL Cert now and will wait for NameCheap to respond. Either on the support tickets or here on the forum.

If all else fails I will contact one of them and take it from there.

I will give feedback as and when I receive any.

Today NameCheap had me contact Geotrust to cancel the Cert despite the fact that I already gave NameCheap the reply from Geotrust about a week ago.

Geotrust confirmed the cert is cancelled and my reseller should issue the refund.

Now the question is: Who is my reseller...
I thought it is NameCheap but according to Madhavaraj is it Geotrust as he said I should contact Geortust and ask about the refund status.
According to "Development Team" (funny name...), who are apparently responsible for getting the refund sorted, it is ENOM who is the reseller.

This is super frustrated but for the sake of exposing NameCheap for what they are I will keep on doing it this way.

You are welcome. If I can help one person to not buy from namecheap I have reached my initial goal.

Today "Development Team" they asked for the reply from Geotrust confirming the cancellation of the cert.

This despite the fact that opened a ticket to "Development Team", pasting the cancellation reply, requesting the refund and referring to the original ticket number.
This ticket was responded to by "Development Team" on 4 September confirming he/she did indeed request the refund from ENOM.

In the original support ticket that "Development Team" responded to today, my last update was the reply from Geotrust confirming the cancellation. On 4 September Madhavaraj wrote in this ticket that the refund request was forwarded to the "respective team".

Don't they read any support tickets?

After another couple of ticket updates I eventually got the SSL Cert refunded.
